ABC’s “The Muppets” – Yay Or Nay?

Muppets Manhattan

I have always been a BIG fan of the Muppets – when I was a kid, I used to beg my parents to take me to Blockbuster to rent the video (yep, as in a video store full of VHS tapes) of “Muppets Take Manhattan” every weekend – and most weekends they obliged, because who can resist a movie full of snarky, hilarious puppets – with a happy ending? I know I can’t!

Well, for those of you who don’t know – THE MUPPETS ARE BACK! They have a new half hour sitcom on ABC, and the premise is they all work on the show “Up Late With Miss Piggy” – a late night talk show where Miss Piggy is the host, and Kermit is the executive producer – with all the characters working assorted roles within the television studio. It’s very similar to the show “The Office”, and also reminds me a bit of Modern Family

Here’s the thing….I really, really WANT to love this show. I love all the components – Muppets? Yep. Modern family/The Office dry wit/humor? Yep. Anything the Muppets do? Yep – love that too. However. I really don’t love the show. It has it’s funny moments, but I feel it’s trying too hard to be funny, and they are also having WAY too many celebrity guests on each episode. Obviously they need guests on Miss Piggy’s “talk show” – but they are stuffing way too many celebs into each episode.

I will continue to watch it, in hopes that maybe there are some funny holiday themed episodes coming up that might make me change my mind…but for now? I give it a solid B-, it’s fine, not great, but I think it can have some potential and room to grow into something great (and I hope it does before the network cancels it!)

I would love to know YOUR thoughts on this new show – do you love it? Hate it? Tolerate it? Let me know!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Gearing Up For The Holidays – Disney Style

The other day I was going through the Toys R’Us holiday toy book – when my son toddled over and flipped the book over and points to a picture of a stuffed Mickey and goes “Daba!” (which is what he calls Mickey). I should be proud, and I am – but I am also scared. He is just barely 1 and already knows what Mickey Mouse is – which is cool, but I wonder what kind of like subliminal messages are in Mickey Mouse Clubhouse….ah well, either way, my kid loves Mickey (yay!), and I suppose that means Disney Christmas gifts this year?

It may only be early November, but I have already started Christmas shopping – and while I still have a lot to do, it’s nice to get some stuff out of the way early. I still do have to shop for my son, so I was thinking some Disney inspiration might be in order:

What kid wouldn’t want to receive a GIANT stuffed Mickey Mouse? Perfect for cuddling and playtime

I love these “road” carpets – and this Mickey Mouse Clubhouse themed one is a great choice for your tiny Disney fan

I saw this at Target and thought it was the cutest thing – what a great way to “play doctor” – just like Doc McStuffins!

This Lightning McQueen toy box is great for everyone – kids will love that it looks like their fave Cars star, and parents will love the extra place to stash the TONS of toys that seem to explode from everywhere

My son isn’t the only Disney lover in the house – and I personally like to deck my halls with a Disney flair:

Personalized stockings hung along the mantle

Or maybe a tree skirt with the family name on it?

Can’t go wrong with these – whether you’re giving them as a gift or using them to make delicious sugar cookies – it’s a win win

And of course Disney sells TONS of ornaments – I personally love to get one each time we go to Disney

Hopefully these gift and décor ideas have helped kick start your holiday spirit into gear!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Happy Birthday To My Baby Boy!

It’s a bit hard to believe that a year has already passed, and that this tiny little guy…

…Has turned into this big man!

He turned 1 yesterday, and we are celebrating his first birthday tomorrow – I can’t wait to see everyone come together for this milestone! There will be pizza, cake, and presents – but most of all, there will be CELEBRATING! We survived! My husband and I managed to successfully keep the baby alive, not kill each other, and have a TON of fun along the way…

From tons of playtime (including peek a boo!)

2.13 cooking

to helping Mommy cook…

To getting to meet the Easter Bunny,

And enjoying plenty of outdoor playtime!

I realize that this post isn’t really Disney related – but I love my kid more than I love Disney (it’s true!) – so I figured why not dedicate a post to how excited I am about his turning 1?

Oh – and if have a baby in your life who’s turning 1 soon, then you should check out my list of gift ideas!

TGIF – and Happy FIRST BIRTHDAY JOHN! Here’s to millions more memories and fun times!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My Husband Is Going To Disney Without ME!!!!!

It’s true. My husband is going to the Happiest Place on Earth without me – his Disney loving wife. Granted, it’s for a work conference, and he will only get to really spend 1 night in the Parks, but STILL – I am so jealous I could die.

I wanted to try and go with him – and we had even thought about me bringing our son along and meeting up with him after the conference is over and staying a few extra days at WDW – but the cost of that, coupled with the logistics of bringing an infant, AND the fact that my vacation balance is precariously low…all of it adds up to him flying solo on this trip – and me crying at home…alone. Well – ok, I probably won’t actually CRY – but it will be lonely for sure!

The one bright spot in all of this is that he will be able to fulfill my running list of Disney Souvenirs! Shopping is not his favorite thing to do, but he has kindly agreed to grab a few things for me. Here’s what’s currently on that list:

This is the number one must have item on my list – Mickey ears for my baby boy – with his name embroidered on them of course! Classic, iconic, and adorable

I’m a huge Alice in Wonderland fan – and so I just have to have this mug, on the back it says “We’re all mad here” (one of my favorite quotes – I love it so much I even have it tattooed on my shoulder!). Do I need more mugs? NO. Will I still get this one? HECK YES!

We always get an ornament when we make a trip to Disney, and I especially love ones I can put a trip picture in. I also prefer ones that are not glass or round (easier to transport that way!) – so something like this would be perfect! I won’t have a trip pic to put in it, but I can always put a family pic in it instead!

There’s a TON of new amazing Tower of Terror merchandise at the Disney Parks – which is great because I LOVE the ride, plus I remember when it opened – and my parents and I would wait over 2 hours to ride it – worth every minute, as the theming is amazing all the way through the queue. I love games, especially Disney themed ones – so this Hollywood Tower Hotel Jenga would be an awesome souvenir

And while I can pretend this one is for our son – it’s really more for me. Because who WOULDN’T want to cuddle a giant Mickey pillow every night?!

So while I am hating that I won’t get to go with my husband to Walt Disney World, I am comforted by the fact that he will be bringing a few little pieces of WDW back to me! What about you – what’s on YOUR Disney souvenir list?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Fun In The Sun!

This week I am writing to you from beautiful Cape Cod – where my family and I are enjoying a much needed vacation, and we are loving every minute of it! We rented a house here with my best friend from college and her husband and their daughter, and it has been an amazing time!

Here’s some highlights from our trip so far:

I know I mostly write about Disney and how amazing it is there – but let’s face it, a Disney family vacation every year probably won’t ever be in our budget – and we want to make sure our little guy gets to experience a variety of activities and places. So until he is old enough to ride Space Mountain, we will take him other places – like the beaches of Cape Cod!

I’m grateful to have such great friends and family and the ability to take time off to spend with them – hope you get the chance to do the same, be it at Disney or wherever!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Personalized Disney Gifts For The Disney Fanatic In Your Life

I recently realized that I write a LOT about Disney stuff you can buy – and I am not like a shopaholic or anything, I swear! I just really LOVE that there’s so many amazing Disney items out there – and that they can be purchased from a ton of different places! When I was younger, Disney stuff had to come from the Disney Parks or the Disney Store – which meant it was hard to get, and expensive to boot! Nowadays, Disney is everywhere and I for one am glad that I need not go further than my local Walmart to score some awesome Disney merchandise (especially now that I have a son who will be wanting Disney toys before too long!)

Today I wanted to shine a spotlight on a specific line of Disney products from (and no – I am NOT paid or compensated in ANY way for talking about this – I just am THAT excited about it!) – it’s brand new, and they have some REALLY cute products that you can personalize, and some you can even add photos to:

sfly 1

A notebook to jot down ideas, thoughts, and plans for your next Disney trip perhaps?

A set of wall decals would be perfect for a little one’s bedroom or nursery

Santa will for sure know which presents to leave for you if you have one of these Disney stockings

What better way to keep warm as colder weather approaches than with your own personalized Disney blanket?

Speaking of cooler weather, wouldn’t your little Frozen fan love to sip cocoa from their very own Frozen mug?

So if you’re looking for something SUPER unique and special for the Disney addict in your life, then you’ll definitely want to check out the full line of Disney products at
