T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Sweet Treats Await You At Disney Springs!

Disney World has been undergoing a TON of changes lately, and one of the bigger ones is the transition of the former Downtown Disney Area to the new Disney Springs – where you will now find even MORE entertainment, shopping, and dining options than ever before! One thing you will find PLENTY of in Disney Springs is desserts – check out these decadent ways to get your sugar rush on:

There are few things more satisfying on a hot Orlando day than a freshly scooped cone of shaved ice, and the Florida Snow Company Stand serves up just that – in a variety of sweet flavors to mix and match into your perfectly sweet, refreshing treat!

A stop at the Ghiradelli Ice Cream & Chocolate Shop is a MUST on any trip to Disney Springs – and even if you didn’t plan on going there, the smell of chocolate and freshly baked waffle cones is bound to lure you right in! Personally I always go for the Gold Rush Sundae – with hot fudge and peanut butter sauces made in house, but they have a ton of different options to pick from, and you can also pick up some packaged candy to take home with you too

One of the newest additions to the Disney Springs Dessert lineup is Sprinkles Cupcakes – The freshly baked gourmet cupcakes that are insanely popular on the west coast have made their way to Orlando!

And should you happen to be visiting outside of their normal hours, you can grab a late night cupcake from their Cupcake ATM – that’s right – a machine that distributes cupcakes!

And to round out our Disney Springs Dessert Tour – a stop at Vivoli il Gelato, where you can savor hand crafted Gelati, Sorbetti, espresso drinks and much more. Doesn’t get much more authentically Italian than this!

Now if you will excuse me, I need to go get something to satisfy MY sweet tooth – as I am now SUPER hungry and drooling from thinking about all these amazing treats – TGIF!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – WDW Then And Now

old1

I love looking back at old photos from all the Disney trips I took as a kid – it’s fun to see what everyone wore back then, and it’s cool to see how WDW has changed and evolved through the photos too – check out these Disney “Then and Now” photos:

Thenandnow1 thenandnow2

Since opening back in 1971, Disney has added a TON of stuff – it used to just be the Magic Kingdom, and there were still rides under construction on opening day! Fast forward 45 years, and you’ve got 3 more Theme Parks, numerous Resort Hotels, 2 Water Parks, and a shopping/dining/entertainment district. The differences in the maps show just how much Disney World has grown

They may have jazzed the parades up a bit over the years – with some help from technology! But the thrill of the parade is still the same – getting to see amazingly creative floats, and the chance to spot your favorite characters, too!

Even the Mouse himself has gotten a few “facelifts” over the years – but that iconic silhouette remains the same, and is one of the most recognizable symbols on the planet – even my toddler knows what it is and can spot it from a distance

Magic Bands

“Back In The Day” you actually needed two tickets to get into Walt Disney World – one for the transportation system, and one to allow entry into the Magic Kingdom. Once inside, you could purchase tickets for rides/attractions individually or in booklets (which saved you a bit of money). Things today are a bit more streamlined – as there is just one cost to enter the park, and that includes all of the Park’s rides/attractions, and when you purchase the ticket, all the information is stored either on a credit card-like plastic ticket, or on your Magic Band – which is basically a bracelet with an RFID chip inside that stores all the information, and the ticket/band is then scanned for entry at the Park gates

I love learning more about the history of WDW, and I can’t wait to see how things change and get even better in the years to come!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Celebrating 6 Years Of Marriage With My Love

     FB_IMG_1465230004843

This weekend will mark 6 years of marriage for me and my man – and it’s been quite the journey thus far! We bought a house, new cars, got married, got a dog, had a baby, and have been lucky enough to have gone on some awesome vacations too! We have visited Walt Disney World a bunch of times together, and while I love going anywhere with him and cherish the memories we make on ALL our trips, I have to say – I do hold a particular fondness for our Disney vacations:

To our trips with my parents, where we all got to enjoy the Disney Magic (once even on Christmas Day, which was amazing!)

Unfortunately, we won’t be celebrating our anniversary at Disney this year, but we will be heading to the Disney Store so I can get my fix (lucky me!)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week: Amazing Disney Art To Brighten Up Your Home

I know I might have done a little bragging in the past about some of the awesome things my husband has made for me over the years, and I also know that his artistic ability is just one of the MANY reasons I am so lucky to have him in my life! Now, I realize that everyone out there might not be as artistically inclined as my husband (I know I’m not!), and lucky for us – there is the world of Etsy. In case you haven’t heard of it, let me school you real quick – etsy.com is the home of anything and everything handmade – art galore, jewelry, personalized and hand crafted – you name it, they have it! Check out some of the amazing Disney Art you can find there:

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – WDW’s Good Neighbor Hotels

Ok let me just start by saying that I am a HUGE advocate of staying on property when vacationing at Disney World, the Walt Disney World Hotels are amazing, and offer great service, food, and lodging for all. But I have to admit, as my family grows and changes, our needs when it comes to vacationing are changing too. Like – I would prefer a kitchen so I can prepare some of my own meals, and I would like a separate bedroom/sleeping area for my son – to name a few. So staying in a small hotel room with 2 double beds and no place for my son to play or my husband and I to be alone…yeah, not so attractive anymore, really

Sorry Disney – but I think it’s time I expanded my horizons and looked off site for lodging options. I know, I know – it’s crazy sounding, but believe it or not there’s a whole other world of hotels right outside the gates of Walt Disney World!

Many of these hotels are what Disney calls “Good Neighbor Hotels” – which means that they are on a short list of hotels that Disney deems worthy of associating with – they have great service, are AAA approved, are close to the Parks, and have an on-site guest services desk that can answer questions and assist with Disney ticket purchases too! Check out just of what you can expect at these Hotels:

GN 6

GN 1

All these hotels offer awesome pools with tons of space for your whole family to lounge and play. Additionally, many of these hotels offer perks like shuttles to the Disney Parks, free breakfasts, game rooms, water slides, and plenty more, too!

GN 5

GN 2

Many offer full kitchens with stoves, dishes and cookware – allowing you to cook your own meals, which could potentially save you a TON of money

GN 3

Oh hello separate bedroom perfect for my son (or my husband and me!)

GN 4

Another nice to have amenity is an open floor plan – a combined dining/living/kitchen area makes my life a lot easier when it comes to keeping track of little ones!

All of these are photos from some of the various WDW Good Neighbor hotels, and these are some places I will be seriously considering for my next WDW trip – more space, privacy, a kitchen, and just minutes from WDW? Sign me up! Oh – and did I mention – a much lower price than similar amenities/space at WDW Resorts? Sorry Disney – but at this stage in my life, every penny matters – which is why I am considering heading off property next time I visit. T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Adding Some Extra “Magic” To Your Magic Bands

Have you been to Disney World recently? If so, you probably have had a chance to try out their new Magic Band system – and if not, let me give you a quick rundown on what you’re missing out on: the Magic Band is essentially a bracelet that contains and electronic chip, which acts as your park ticket, your method of payment at the Parks for souvenirs/food etc, your WDW Resort room key, and it even stores your Fastpass/Dining Reservation information too. Pretty cool for a little bracelet, right? The design of the band itself is pretty basic – so of course people have come up with plenty of ways to personalize their Magic Bands:

     MB 1

There are plenty of accessories available for sale at the Disney Parks

MB3

MB 2

….And then there’s the “after-market” Magic Band Accessories – many of which are available through sites like Etsy

Or if you’re the crafty type, you can always decorate it yourself

For those who like a little sparkle in their lives, check out this easy Magic Band Glitter DIY

Personally I like to keep it simple – a little Muppet charm and I’m good to go!
