T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My Husband Is Going To Disney Without ME!!!!!

It’s true. My husband is going to the Happiest Place on Earth without me – his Disney loving wife. Granted, it’s for a work conference, and he will only get to really spend 1 night in the Parks, but STILL – I am so jealous I could die.

I wanted to try and go with him – and we had even thought about me bringing our son along and meeting up with him after the conference is over and staying a few extra days at WDW – but the cost of that, coupled with the logistics of bringing an infant, AND the fact that my vacation balance is precariously low…all of it adds up to him flying solo on this trip – and me crying at home…alone. Well – ok, I probably won’t actually CRY – but it will be lonely for sure!

The one bright spot in all of this is that he will be able to fulfill my running list of Disney Souvenirs! Shopping is not his favorite thing to do, but he has kindly agreed to grab a few things for me. Here’s what’s currently on that list:

This is the number one must have item on my list – Mickey ears for my baby boy – with his name embroidered on them of course! Classic, iconic, and adorable

I’m a huge Alice in Wonderland fan – and so I just have to have this mug, on the back it says “We’re all mad here” (one of my favorite quotes – I love it so much I even have it tattooed on my shoulder!). Do I need more mugs? NO. Will I still get this one? HECK YES!

We always get an ornament when we make a trip to Disney, and I especially love ones I can put a trip picture in. I also prefer ones that are not glass or round (easier to transport that way!) – so something like this would be perfect! I won’t have a trip pic to put in it, but I can always put a family pic in it instead!

There’s a TON of new amazing Tower of Terror merchandise at the Disney Parks – which is great because I LOVE the ride, plus I remember when it opened – and my parents and I would wait over 2 hours to ride it – worth every minute, as the theming is amazing all the way through the queue. I love games, especially Disney themed ones – so this Hollywood Tower Hotel Jenga would be an awesome souvenir

And while I can pretend this one is for our son – it’s really more for me. Because who WOULDN’T want to cuddle a giant Mickey pillow every night?!

So while I am hating that I won’t get to go with my husband to Walt Disney World, I am comforted by the fact that he will be bringing a few little pieces of WDW back to me! What about you – what’s on YOUR Disney souvenir list?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Personalized Disney Gifts For The Disney Fanatic In Your Life

I recently realized that I write a LOT about Disney stuff you can buy – and I am not like a shopaholic or anything, I swear! I just really LOVE that there’s so many amazing Disney items out there – and that they can be purchased from a ton of different places! When I was younger, Disney stuff had to come from the Disney Parks or the Disney Store – which meant it was hard to get, and expensive to boot! Nowadays, Disney is everywhere and I for one am glad that I need not go further than my local Walmart to score some awesome Disney merchandise (especially now that I have a son who will be wanting Disney toys before too long!)

Today I wanted to shine a spotlight on a specific line of Disney products from Shutterfly.com (and no – I am NOT paid or compensated in ANY way for talking about this – I just am THAT excited about it!) – it’s brand new, and they have some REALLY cute products that you can personalize, and some you can even add photos to:

sfly 1

A notebook to jot down ideas, thoughts, and plans for your next Disney trip perhaps?

A set of wall decals would be perfect for a little one’s bedroom or nursery

Santa will for sure know which presents to leave for you if you have one of these Disney stockings

What better way to keep warm as colder weather approaches than with your own personalized Disney blanket?

Speaking of cooler weather, wouldn’t your little Frozen fan love to sip cocoa from their very own Frozen mug?

So if you’re looking for something SUPER unique and special for the Disney addict in your life, then you’ll definitely want to check out the full line of Disney products at shutterfly.com

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Saying “I Do” At Disney

I have written about Disney Weddings before here on the blog – but today’s wedding inspiration hits close to home – my husband’s brother is marrying his long-time girlfriend tomorrow, and I am so happy for them that they will be starting their Happy Ever After after 9 years of dating! Got me to thinking about wedding in general, and how much a wedding at Disney would be a dream come true

The team of wedding planners at Disney truly can do it all – check out some of the amazing weddings they have done at Disney:

If you’re thinking about getting married at WDW (or if you just want to drool over the fairytale weddings!), then check out the different packages and options here

And if you can’t afford a WDW wedding (like most of us who don’t have an unlimited wedding budget!) then check out these Disney Wedding DIY’s – and remember, no matter how or where you tie the knot, the end result is that you get to marry your soulmate (the Mickey to your Minnie, if you will!)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – The Disney Things I Miss The Most

Time between vacations can seem like an ETERNITY – and this is ESPECIALLY true for time between Disney trips (because Disney World is the best place EVER to take a vacation, obviously!). Since my son was born, we have talked about taking him to WDW when he is younger but we will likely wait until he is about 4 – which is QUITE a ways away at this point, and I gotta say, there are some Disney things I am missing a LOT right now:

Mickey shaped foods just taste better. It’s a tested, tried and true fact – and if you don’t believe me, then you might want to check out some Mickey foods for yourself – like maybe a Mickey Waffle?

Shopping. Don’t judge me. I like to shop, and I like to shop at Disney World especially – checking out all the stores and seeing what new merchandise they have, and narrowing it down to see what the few things are I will bring home with me – it’s a ritual, and one that I love

This view of Main Street USA – It’s my fave place in the whole world, and I can’t wait to be back here again!

Wearing Mickey ears at work or out at the mall or the park is apparently not normal (ugh) – but wearing them at Disney is the norm, and I miss seeing heads upon heads of Mickey everywhere I look

Most of all, I just miss the feeling I get when I am at Disney – that happiness that I have come HOME. I can’t wait to get back!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Happy Birthday To Me (From Me!)

Tomorrow I will be 31 years old (eek!) – and while I don’t exactly love getting older, I do enjoy all the perks that come with it – being an adult, living on my own, making my own decisions, starting my own family, being a homeowner – these are all pretty awesome! At this point, birthdays aren’t really about having a party or getting presents, but more about celebrating all that I am grateful for in my life – like my family (including my baby boy!), friends, health, job…the list goes on, and I feel lucky every day to be living this life!

   31 4

Speaking of luck – I was lucky enough as a kid to get to travel to Walt Disney World every year with my parents – the memories of these trips are ones I will always cherish, and I credit my parents as being the ones who kick-started my Disney obsession. I have traveled back several times as an adult, and enjoyed it even more than when I was a kid – which actually ended up being the inspiration behind starting this blog – showing how much fun Disney can be for everyone (not just kids!)

31 3

For me, birthdays are a great time to reflect on not only the past year, but on yourself as a person – and for me, Disney is a huge part of who I am, and I can’t wait to introduce my son to all the magic in a few years! Until then, I will be dreaming of (and writing about!) the Happiest Place On Earth!

And even though I know I said that birthdays aren’t really about presents anymore, I must admit – there are a few Disney-themed things on my VERY short birthday wish list this year…

31 2

Shutterfly is one of my favorite websites – I love the easy to create photo gifts and prints are super easy to order (you can even do it from your smartphone!), and they just recently released a new line of ready to personalize Disney items – pillows, notebooks, wall decals, placemats – they’re all cute and would make great gifts, but I have to say that the Disney photo book is really the one that stands out for me – I love the pages and the little embellishments you can add – and I am REALLY hoping my husband got me one

31 1

The Disney Alex and Ani bracelets are really popular right now, and they have a ton of cute styles (I have a few, and would love to add a few more to my collection!). Everyone needs a good mug to drink their morning coffee out of – and I am a HUGE alice in wonderland fan – in fact I have “We’re All Mad Here” tattooed on my shoulder (talk about a diehard Disney fan!), and as for the purse – well – that’s a bit of a dream – but everyone needs a Disney wish list, right? Just in case they come in to some money, or some really rich relative wants to buy you something…

While I would love to get these amazing Disney gifts for my birthday, I know that regardless of if I get Disney gifts or no gifts – as long as I have my family and friends, I know it will be great birthday, and I look forward to the year ahead of me too!

Disney Themed First Birthday Gift Ideas

My little guy is already 10 months old – which is really hard to believe because it seems literally like just yesterday that I was having my Disney baby shower and preparing for his arrival! He babbles and feeds himself (sort of) and crawls and gets into anything and everything – and it’s been an amazing journey so far!

I’ve already begun preparations for his first birthday party – which I am trying to keep low key (not an easy feat in the days of pinterest and over the top kids parties!). It will be at a local park lodge, and we will have pizza and cupcakes, and I opted for an easy zoo animals theme with fun blow up zoo animal beach balls and baggies of animal crackers as “favors”. Even though I know he will receive a TON of gifts, I still want my husband and I to get him something, and I was trying to think what he might like, and I was of course thinking about how I could start that love for Disney at an early age too….

So here’s what I came up with for possible Disney gift ideas for a 1 year old:

1bday 1

This 4 in 1 Mickey Mouse Ride On can be used as a walker/rocker, and transitions with them as they grow older. It features their favorite Disney characters, and even lights up and Mickey talks and plays music too!

1bday 2

John has this Disney Wooden Train and he loves it – and by loves it I mean “loves eating the pieces” – but I am sure once he gets older he will enjoy actually putting it together

1bday 3

Stuffed animals are great for kids of any age – and I love this Disney My First Duffy Bear – he’s nice and soft and the perfect bedtime cuddle buddy in his adorable pajamas

1bday 4

Playsets like this Disney little people Mickey and Minnie’s house Little People set are great for their imagination and role playing skills – which admittedly at 1 they don’t have much of, but for now they can play with the houses and little people and enjoy the colors and textures

A note about suggested ages: I always read the suggested age range on a toy before I buy it, but I don’t always follow it – if a toy says ages 2 and up but it doesn’t have any small or sharp pieces, chances are pretty good I will let my little guy play with it. However – that’s totally up to you as a parent or gift giver, so feel free to do whatever you feel is best!

I can’t wait to celebrate my boy turning 1 – and I can’t wait to watch him start to really “play” with toys. They may physically grow a LOT their first year, but this upcoming year is going to be a big one for developmental milestones, and I can’t wait to witness each and every one!

What about YOU – what do you like to give as gifts to your favorite tiny Disney fans?
