Classic Disney Movie Remakes – Yay Or Nay?

Lately, Disney has been following a new trend of re-making animated Disney classics into live action films

Recently, films such as Aladdin, Dumbo & The Lion King have been re-released as live action films, and over the past few years we have seen The Jungle Book as well as Beauty And The Beast be re-done as well. And slated to be re-made are The Little Mermaid, Lady & The Tramp, Fox & The Hound, and the list goes on

The remakes have been doing well in theaters, as Disney has a VERY loyal fan base – anything Disney is always popular, and always makes a TON of money.

That being said, I have to say – I am NOT a fan of these remakes – at all. They are boring, lifeless, and lose all the magic that the originals carried with them. Maybe it’s just me, and maybe the magic is all in my head – since the original Lion King and Aladdin are ones I remember seeing in theaters as a kid (and then re-watching over and over again on VHS!), and so for movies like those – no remake can compare.

My son recently watched the animated Aladdin, and loved it – the Genie was a favorite, as was Abu – and when I asked him if he wanted to watch the live action version and showed him the trailer of it online, he was very adamant that he did NOT want to watch the remake. I don’t blame him – I don’t want to watch it either #sorrynotsorry

But – I would LOVE to hear what YOU think – are these remakes worth a trip to the movie theater? Or is Disney just trying to make money off of the nostalgia factor?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Fallin’ In Love (With DISNEY’s Fall Decor, That Is!)

Sorry for my absence in the blog world lately – I have been a BUSY GIRL! I started a new job which I am LOVING, and my little man has been busy too – he started KINDERGARTEN!

We are both crushing it so far – loving our new gigs, and enjoying the change – which can sometimes be overwhelming and scary, but it’s important to teach the kids not to fear change, right? Now if only I could teach myself the same thing…hmm (lol!)

One thing that has changed which I am SO glad about – is the SEASONS! It is OFFICIALLY FALL – so you know what THAT means – Pumpkin Spice Lattes, falling leaves, apple picking, and scarves galore….what can I say, I’m as basic as they come!

As a Disney lover who also loves the autumn season, there is no better place to be than Disney World in the fall – I was lucky enough to be able to be there this time last year, and I just loved it all:

I wish I could be back there now, enjoying all the decor and special merchandise and snacks – but fall in Upstate New York is pretty great too – it actually cools off and there’s a crispness to the air you just can’t find in Florida

Happy Fall, Y’all!
Oh – and TGIF!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – New Mug Who Dis?

Scored this beauty last weekend when we went out of town – to a place that still has a Disney Store in it’s mall, so of COURSE we had to stop there (us true Disney fans never miss an opportunity for even the tiniest piece of Disney Magic!)

Since I am ever so slightly obsessed with Disney Mugs, I knew I would have to bring one home with me – I couldn’t say no to this one, I just love it!

…Of course, I couldn’t let me son walk out of there empty-handed either, and since Toy Story 4 is all the rage right now, it’s no surprise to me that he picked these adorably tiny Bunny and Ducky plushes to bring home (and they have been giving our dog the “ole plush rush” ever since lol)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Getting Ready For Kindergarten

It may only be July, but school prep is in FULLLL swing around here – and you can’t blame us for getting it done early – the stores have had supplies out for a couple of weeks now, and with some deals too good to pass up, I figured might as well get started, right?

Grabbed the usual glue sticks/tissues/crayons and such – and took pause at the backpacks – knowing he would want a new one, I asked what character he might like. Without hesitation, he said “Toy Story 4” – and I know he’s super into it right now, so it didn’t surprise me, but just in case, I ran down the list of other characters he might like (Lego Movie, Superheros, Spiderman, etc) – and he was adamantly against them and 100% for Toy Story 4 (specifically – Forky).

Well, who am I to argue with him? He’s obviously a Disney kid at heart just like his mama

And before I know it, school will be starting and he will be that much older, bigger, and smarter. Excuse me while I go cry tears of mixed joy and sadness haha

What about YOU – have you started school shopping for your little ones yet? Any cute DISNEY finds for you?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Oddball Favorites (Toddler Edition)

When preparing to take my 3 year old son to Walt Disney World for the first time, I had an idea of what he might like/dislike as far as rides, dining, and characters – and many of my instincts were spot on. But – there were some things I couldn’t have predicted that he would just love:

He was obsessed with the Huey/Dewey/Louie and Donald statues outside of our hotel room at the All Star Sports Resort – he insisted on visiting them every time we came or went

He really enjoyed watching the Star Wars show at Hollywood Studios – longest he has sat still in forever ha!

I was not prepared to ride Dumbo 4 times in a row – but it was a trip favorite for sure – he loved that he could “control” the up and down motion of the vehicle – and there was no line so it was easy to ride over and over!

Roasting marshmallows at the nightly hotel bonfire – I mean – ok, most kids love s’mores, but most aren’t patient enough to roast the marshmallows themselves, but he loved it, and of course enjoyed the end result, too!

A few things he did NOT love: “Real” characters – he was dying to meet Ariel, but when he went into the grotto and saw she was a real person (not a covered face like the rest) – he wanted NOTHING to do with her! Slinky Dog Dash, Mission – Space and Dinosaur were all rides he was definitely not on board with – although he said afterwards he liked it, but I could tell he was scared at the time!

It just goes to show – you gotta try everything, and you might just be surprised at what you like (that you maybe didn’t think you would!) Now only if I could use the same theory with my son on vegetables, hmm…

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Disney’s Live Action Dumbo Takes Flight!

hqdefault

Dumbo is one of those Disney movies I could never watch – it just was too much for me, emotionally. The mocking of Dumbo, the treatment of his mother, Dumbo and his mother and the song – I can’t – there just aren’t enough tissues in the world for it

So when I heard they were re-making it into a live-action film – let’s just say, my feelings were “mixed” at best…

Dumbo3

Dumbo2

Dumbo1

But, after reading up on it – the cast seems really strong, and from what I have read and seen in trailers and such – it might just turn out to be an amazing remake! I will give it a chance…but I will still be bringing my tissues for SURE. The movie hits theaters next month – Will YOU be heading to see it?

Check out the “Sneak Peak” and Official Trailer Here
