It’s probably not a shock that when I daydream, it’s largely of all things DISNEY – I miss the sights, sounds, smells and experiences that I can only get at the Disney Parks, and this week especially has made me want to escape the doldrums of everyday life and relax and regroup in my favorite place ever – Walt Disney World! I know it may seem weird that Disney World is a place I would choose to go to “unwind” – as the Parks are crowded, loud, and high energy – BUT – there are definitely plenty of places on WDW property where the pace slows down, and things are quiet, calm, and perfect for that vacation vibe of doing nothing at all!
One of the best places I have found to really enjoy the quaintness and splendor of Walt Disney World is at the Port Orleans French Quarter Resort – where the “Big Easy” New Orleans motif is really embraced and carried on throughout the grounds. Check it out:
It’s smaller than a lot of the other WDW Resort Hotels, and the grounds are beautifully landscaped with fountains and greenery everywhere. One of the best parts about staying here is just taking a stroll around the Resort, enjoying the quiet beauty in all its glory.
You might think that since it’s Mardi Gras themed, it would be loud and crowded and just a 24/7 party – and it’s really not in my experience – it’s like a party, but a quiet, relaxed one where you can go at your own pace and enjoy the fun, sights, and food (they serve up traditional New Orleans fare – including beignets!)
This resort is definitely one of my “Happy Places” – and I can’t wait to go back and experience the feeling all over again!
