T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – 18 Reasons To Visit Walt Disney World In 2018

As a Disney LOVER – I don’t need any excuse/reason to visit Walt Disney World – I would go anytime, anyplace, no questions asked. BUT – in case you need some convincing – check out some of these Top Reasons To Visit Walt Disney World in 2018:

18 reasons1

THE OPENING OF TOY STORY LAND! This is one I am personally pretty pumped about – as my family and I are headed there in September, and my son is a BIG Toy Story fan – he loves his Buzz and Woody, and he will go nuts at seeing them life size at Hollywood Studios!

18 reasons 2

Star Wars Fans will be glad to hear that there will be TONS of new stuff themed after the franchise coming to the Parks in 2018: props from The Last Jedi will be on display at the Star Wars Launch Bay in Hollywood Studios, an immersive virtual reality experience at Disney Springs, and two new destinations have been added to the Star Tours Ride, too!

NEW FOOD – Disney Springs is opening EIGHT new dining locations in 2018 – to include The Edison – a restaurant/bar/lounge created from an old power plant with dazzling “Edison-Era” décor throughout –with a larger than life clock tower greeting you at the entrance

There is SO MUCH to look forward to when you’re planning a Disney World vacation – all the great things you will get to experience, see, eat, do – but in case you needed even more convincing – here’s the full list of the top 18 reasons to head there this year (courtesy of the Disney Parks Blog!)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My (Disney!) New Year’s Resolutions

2017 is rapidly coming to an end – and with a new year upon us, it’s customary for some to resolve to better themselves. I personally enjoy the idea of New Year’s Resolutions (even if I am not always the best at following through on them – oops!), and have decided that this year I will make them more fun by adding a bit of a Disney Twist to them! Since we are headed to Walt Disney World next fall, I have some things on my “Disney Resolutions” List to take care of before/during that time:

18 Res 1

Read This Book from cover to cover. A LOT has changed since the last time I went to Disney World – and I want to be sure I am up to date on all the changes and what to expect when we head there in September. It’s a daunting task – at 864 pages, it will certainly take some time to complete – but it’s very thorough and detailed, and I know I can get it done! If you’re looking for something a bit shorter then check out these Other Disney Guidebooks

18 res 2

Decide if we are going to Bring a Stroller to Disney World with us or not – seems like an easy decision, you either do or you don’t, right? But it’s a bit more involved than that for us – and I am hoping we can decide what to do and ultimately that that decision will help us make the most out of our trip!

18-res-3.jpg

Above all – my top “Disney New Years Resolution” is to prepare my little man as best I can for what will hopefully be the first of many amazing trips to Walt Disney World! I want to be well packed, well equipped, and well prepared to handle a toddler on a Disney World Vacation. Toddlers can be tricky – but I think I got this!

What about you – are you making any New Year’s Resolutions as we head into 2018?

Disney With Toddlers – The Stroller Dilemma

It has been SO LONG since I have had time to write a non TGIF post for this blog – just – wow. As a mom you always feel like there’s about 847 things pulling you in every direction, requiring – no – DEMANDING your attention – and it’s hard to find time for much aside from the day to day. Not an excuse – just reality

Toddler life is intense – but AMAZING. I get to watch this guy learn and grow every day!

And in less than a year, we’re all headed to Walt Disney World for our first family trip – and I can’t WAIT. I am pretty close to starting to count down the days (even though we aren’t going until next September!) – as I can’t wait to get back to my favorite place in the world, and to show my son all the Magic!

There is ONE thing that is starting to pose somewhat of a dilemma though – and it’s how to answer this question – to Stroller or not to Stroller?

Should we bring our stroller to Disney World?

Why I am thinking “Yes”
-An average day at the Disney Parks means WALKING – MILES AND MILES of it – and as strong and big as he is -I KNOW he cannot handle walking as much as we do in Disney – he will get tired and cranky and the stroller is the perfect thing to help prevent that
-I can stash my crap in the bottom of the stroller – no backpack lugging for me! Plus – strollers have cup holders
-Snacks on the go – gives him the chance to eat while we stroll – even has the built in tray and cup holder on the front of it
-Airport ease – The Disney Parks aren’t the only place that are HUGE – walking from one gate to another for a connecting flight at a bigger airport (like Atlanta – which is typically where we connect through) could potentially be a disaster with an un-strollered toddler in tow. Stroller makes it easier and faster to get from point A to point B
-He’s comfortable in it – he likes sitting in it, he’s used to it, it’s easy to push/maneuver

Why I’m thinking “No Way”
-Airport issues – while it may help you make your connecting flight in time, the stroller can also be a pain when it comes to air travel. It has to be inspected at security, and each airline has a slightly different procedure when it comes to checking strollers. Most gate check them, which means in theory you get it back right when you get off – but that can be a process that takes time, and there’s always the potential for the airline to “misplace” it accidentally
-Stroller parking lots – Outside every ride at Walt Disney World is a huge area FULL of strollers – since you obviously can’t bring it inside the rides with you, you’re forced to leave it alone outside – but you wouldn’t want to leave your valuables with it, so then that means toting those along with you on every ride, and then there’s always the (super slim but still it exists) possibility that your stroller could get damaged or stolen while you’re away from it
-It’s huge. I mean – it’s a normal size for a stroller, but let’s face it – all strollers are huge, cumbersome, and awkward to carry when folded up – and that on top of luggage can quickly turn into a huge ordeal
-Dragging it around is going to be a pain – folding it up and carrying it on the buses/monorails/boats…

I could go on and on about the pros and cons – but at the end of the day, I am pretty sure I am leaning towards sucking it up and bringing the stroller along to Walt Disney World. It really will be useful to have, and will help my son get to enjoy more of the Disney experience

And hey – it’s not like I’m alone – there will be plenty of other parents toting around their toddlers strollers and loving every minute of it! And if all else fails – there’s always wine.

Hopefully in the coming months I will be able to make more time to devote to writing about Disney – I mean, I think about it enough, shouldn’t be that hard to put those thoughts to paper, right? In theory anyway…We shall see. #WishMeLuck

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Happy 3rd Birthday To My Baby Boy

This weekend we are celebrating my son’s 3rd birthday – and I am just astounded at how quickly three years went by

John3 1

From a tiny, chunky smiley little guy…

John3 2

To a curious toddler who loves to laugh

John3 3

…To a funny, silly, happy, talkative 3 year old (who loves all things DISNEY, of course!)

So many amazing memories made over the past 3 years, and next year we will head to Disney World for this little guy’s first trip – and I can’t wait to make even more amazing memories with him. Watching him experience things for the first time has been so much fun – and Walt Disney World is no exception – I can’t wait to see what he likes, what makes him laugh, smile, scares him, what he wants to ride again and again – it’s so cool watching kids grow up – and I may be biased, but I think I got myself a pretty great one here.

Happy 3rd Birthday John!

Now if anyone needs me I will be crying in the corner – part sad as my baby is growing so fast, part happy as he is turning into such an amazing little man

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Unique Autograph Ideas For Your Next WDW Trip

Collecting character autographs is just one of those “Must-Do” things at Walt Disney World – there’s nothing better than a book full of the memories of meeting and interacting with your favorite Disney characters (not to mention the bragging rights that accompany it, too!). When I was a kid – “back in the day” if you will – really all we had were autograph books:

autographs1

This is like the one I used to have, and I carried it around in my neon pink fanny pack when I went to the Parks. I wish I still had it and could pass it on to my son (the fanny pack though – not so much. That can stay in the early 90’s where it belongs). Autograph books are great, but if you’re looking for a more unique way to collect signatures, check out these ideas:

Autographs2

Bring along a blank mat for a picture frame for signing, and then display it at home along with your favorite photo from the trip!

Autographs4

If you have multiple children (or adults!) who are collecting autographs, get each one the first letter of their name (wooden ones like this can be found at most craft stores). Then there’s no confusion on which letter belongs to which kid, too!

Autographs 3

This idea would require special metallic or fabric markers – but in the end would make for a pretty cool keepsake

17Autographs5

This might be my favorite idea of all – bringing along a stack of colored pieces of card stock/scrapbook paper (4×6 size would work perfectly), and having the characters each sign one, to later pair with a picture in a special photo album

Autographs5

This Disney Character Encyclopedia is what inspired me to look up new and inventive autograph ideas – as I was thinking about getting it for my son, and read some reviews that people used it for autographs – which is a great idea – each character has their own page already in the book, so why not have them sign it?

I haven’t decided what we will do for autographs when we bring my son for the first time next year to Walt Disney World – might just opt for a classic autograph book for him – but for me? One of these ideas would be perfect!

TODAY IS THE DAY (For 2018 Disney World Bookings, That Is!)

Disney World Lovers, REJOICE – as today is the day many of you have been waiting for! Historically, Disney releases vacation package information/booking ability for the following year sometime in June, and this year it is June 20th (TODAY!)

The past few years this day hasn’t really meant much to me, as I wasn’t planning a Disney World vacation in the coming year – but since we are (finally!) Headed Back to WDW in 2018, I am VERY excited about this day indeed. Plus – I love to make lists and budgets and plan things – so I know I will be heading over to Disney World’s Website today to price out my vacations (plural – both real and the dream version where we stay a Deluxe Resort and have VIP Passes…hey, it’s fun to play pretend sometimes, right?)

Happy Booking!
