T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Christmas Treats (Disney Style!)

Last week I shared some of the amazing Christmas décor at the WDW Parks, and it got me to thinking – decorating for the holidays is a great tradition that the whole family can participate it, and another HUGE part of the holidays (at least in my house!) is the FOOD – cookies, special meals, hot cocoa by the fire, and so much more! Well – Disney goes all out when it comes to Holiday food too – check out some of the amazing treats you can find at WDW during the Christmas season:

And you can even grab cocoa and cookies (for free!) if you attend Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party

I love the creativity the cast members added to this gelato!

Here’s hoping your holiday prep and fun includes plenty of delicious treats, too!

When Is The BEST Time To Go To WDW?

image8

I get asked this a lot – people always want to know when is the best time to travel to Walt Disney World – and let’s be real – what they are REALLY asking is when is the cheapest/least crowded time to go. I can’t blame them – Disney is expensive, and the crowds can really put a damper on your fun (that you paid so much for). So, in the interest of saving money and attempting to avoid the crowds, here are my top three best times to visit WDW:

Early December: The crowds won’t be super light at this time, so you might be wondering “why rank this as a top choice?” and that would be solely based on the Christmas decorations. That’s right – they are THAT amazing – the decorations, the live entertainment and Christmas music, the huge Christmas trees at each Park, the gingerbread displays, the Christmas/holiday themed food – it’s all amazing, and worth braving a bit of a crowd for. If you’re a huge Christmas fanatic (like me!) I highly recommend you consider an early December WDW trip. While going the week of Christmas may seem appealing – I advise you to resist the urge – as the Resort prices are higher, and the crowds are INSANE – so earlier in the month is generally a much better choice

Late September/Early October: This time of year at Disney World is great for a lot of reasons. The attendance numbers tend to be some of the lowest of the year, due in part to the return of most kids to school in September (and parents not wanting to take their kids out of classes so soon after they have just begun!). The weather is mild (still warm but not as painfully hot and humid as the summer months), and fall season is in full swing at the Parks! There are pumpkins everywhere you turn, plus seasonal fall foods are offered around the Parks too (pumpkin flavored items galore – yum!). If you’re a big Halloween fan, this is the perfect time for you to go to WDW – as Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party begins in late September and runs through October. The Party includes trick or treating, a special Halloween themed parade, and plenty of character meet and greets as well

Early May: Statistically this is one of the best times to go to WDW, as the attendance numbers tend to be some of the lowest of any other time of the year. And since it’s not a “peak” time – the prices to stay at WDW are lower, too! If crowds are your main concern when planning your Disney trip, then this is your time to go! The weather is great too – you might see some rain, but overall, spring at Disney is warm (but not hot!) and sunny, which means you’ll be able to get in plenty of pool and water park time

So there they are, my top 3 Best Times to travel to Disney World. Obviously, this is just my opinion and you might have a totally different experience or other thoughts on the matter – but from what I have seen, these are the best. I would love to know what YOU think thoughwhat’s your favorite time to travel to WDW (aside from ANYTIME, of course, ha!)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – In Honor Of Christmas (Part II)

Last week I wrote about how lucky I am to have traveled to WDW TWICE at Christmastime – and I shared some of my favorite memories from those trips with you. Since today is Christmas Day – I thought it would be fun to share some pictures from our Christmas day in Disney World:

It’s sad this is the last year for the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights – I am SO GLAD we got to see them be lit on Christmas Day – it was the best experience of the whole trip by far!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – In Honor Of Christmas (Part I)

Christmas is just ONE WEEK AWAY – hard to believe that another holiday is here, and that 2015 is quickly coming to an end!

DSC_0785

It’s been quite a year for us – watching my baby boy grow from a 3 month old to a running, screaming, smiling, cuddling toddler – it’s been the most amazing thing, and I am so grateful for it

I am also so grateful for the memories I have of Christmas’ past – especially my Disney Christmas memories from our 2 trips to WDW in December 2011 and 2013 – there’s nothing quite like waking up at Walt Disney World on Christmas morning! Here are some of my favorite memories from those trips:

Cinderella’s Castle gets a gorgeous Christmas makeover

Mickey, Minnie, Duffy, and SNOW – what a perfect night!

We were lucky enough to get to go to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party back in 2011 – it was so fun!

The Christmas Trees at all the Resorts and Parks are so beautifully decorated

…Gingerbread Mickey, anyone?

Xmas COllage

Lights, trees, gingerbread – all the elements of a classic Christmas combine at WDW to make an amazing holiday!

While I know I can’t spend every Christmas at Disney, I hope that someday we can bring our son there and let him have the thrill of waking up to breakfast with Mickey on Christmas morning – I couldn’t think of a better present!

Here’s hoping you’re out there making memories, enjoying family, and that your shopping is all done (and if not, don’t worry – you still have a week. And overnight shipping options)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Getting In The (Disney!) Christmas Spirit!

It’s December, Thanksgiving is behind us – and that means we have officially entered CHRISTMAS SEASON! Christmas songs, Christmas cookies, decorating the tree, spending time with family and friends, shopping galore – I can’t wait to do it all! I also really like to do it all with a Disney flair – here are some of my family’s Disney Christmas traditions:

Xmasvideo2

We always watch tons of movies and specials this month, and these are two of my very favorites. Mickey’s Christmas Carol is a retelling of the classic Dickens tale, and Winnie the Pooh and Christmas Too follows our 100 Acre Wood friends on an adventure to get their letter to Santa

I love seeing pictures people post on various Disney websites of all the amazing Christmas décor at the Disney Parks – I am lucky enough to have been able to visit twice during this season, and it’s truly a magical time. Since I can’t go this year, I will settle for reminiscing and going through my pictures – and enjoying the posts/pictures from those at the Parks!

Check out some great Disney themed gift ideas here – these will definitely get you in the Disney Holiday Spirit!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My (Other) Favorite Time Of The Year To Visit WDW

I wrote recently about why Halloween is the Perfect time to visit WDW – and while I totally stand behind all my reasons, I must admit – I have a real soft spot for Disney at Christmastime, too – they start the evening of Halloween and work through the night to remove the fall and pumpkin décor and get right into that Christmas spirit starting November 1st. Here’s some highlights of what you will see at Christmastime at Disney World:

IMG_6919

IMG_7031

First of all, there’s gingerbread everywhere – literally. Houses made of it, displays – and don’t worry – they sell it to eat too (otherwise that would just be cruel!)

IMG_6624

    IMG_6922

   IMG_7118

HUGE, beautifully decorated trees at every Park and Resort

IMG_6901

IMG_7135

And lights GALORE – display after display, and the castle gets a little sprucing up for the season too – in the form of 200,000 LED lights that change color and create an amazing sight!

IMG_6650

Characters dress up too

IMG_6757

And it’s always good to have an accurate Christmas countdown, too (1 day until Santa!)

Why isn’t Christmastime my #1 FAVORITE time to visit WDW, you might ask? Well – the main reason is that it is SUPER CROWDED during the weekends and the week of Christmas – and while I loved it, I can see why it would NOT be ideal for most people with families/kids, or anyone traveling there for the first time. Also, holiday Resort room rates tend to be higher…not exactly budget friendly. But it sure is pretty, isn’t it? It’s a truly magical, special experience that is worth the extra money and braving the crowds at least once in your lifetime – trust me!
