T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – So Many Disney Cakes, So Little Time

I have written before (multiple times) about the amazing Desserts you can find at Walt Disney World – and I make no excuses for my behavior – as I LOVE desserts and have a huge sweet tooth. Clearly I am not the only one out there who looks forward to the post dinner sweets more than the dinner itself – as the Disney Moms Panel recently wrote about where to get the best Sweet treats at Walt Disney World – which got me thinking about CAKE – and just how many amazing ones they are making at WDW every single day:

sharing-cakepop.jpg

There’s the cake pops – in all colors and flavors, with their moist cake-y centers and marshmallow ears (how else would you make that classic Mickey shape?!). Share if you’re willing – but no one would judge if you wanted it all to yourself

Pandorafood2

Just last month, Disney debuted the brand new Pandora: World Of Avatar, and they offer some amazing new food there too – including this beautiful Blueberry Cream Cheese Mousse, a cream cheese and blueberry creation with passion fruit

CakeChocolate

You’ll find these little chocolate cakes all over the Disney Parks – generally at Counter Service restaurants (most of them have this on the menu). It may seem just kind of unassuming, even boring – but believe it or not, it’s pretty darn delicious! Moist chocolate cake and a flavorful frosting that almost is more ganache-y – this one is a must try for sure

Oh hello there pumpkin pecan tart (which isn’t exactly a cake but definitely has cake-like qualities) – you are super delicious, and unfortunately only available seasonally around the holidays – booooo

Butterfinger Cupcake.JPG

This here is the definition of “Go big or go home” – The Butterfinger Cupcake – stuffed with chocolate, topped with a mountain of frosting, chocolate shell, and butterfinger pieces – it’s seriously amazing and awe-inspiring (available at Starring Roles in Hollywood Studios)

Ok – now that I am sufficiently starving after writing that and looking at those amazing cakes – I am off to start my weekend – in search of cake, of course, and you should do the same, hey, it’s Friday – you’ve earned it!!!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Let Them Eat Cake!

I know that I am always going on (and on, and on…) about how amazing the Food at Walt Disney World is – and it’s with good reason, I swear – it really is some of the best food I have ever tasted! One thing I especially enjoy at Disney is desserts, specifically their CAKES – they make so many different and delicious varieties that it’s hard to pick just one to have for dessert…so why not have them all?

BCupcake

This is the famous Butterfinger Cupcake that is available at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – and if he looks scared, it’s with good reason – this thing is HUGE – tall and wide, it encompasses a fudgy center, moist chocolate cake, a giant pile of whipped frosting, and a chocolate shell coated in Butterfinger pieces. Seriously amazing.

CakePop

They started making these cake pops a few years ago, and I wasn’t sure if I would like them – but I REALLY do! The cake is dense and super flavorful, and the white chocolate coating is the perfect amount of sweet. Plus they come in super cute holiday styles like this Mickey Snowman (sharing not required…)

No matter what you’re celebrating, Disney can help you out by customizing a cake to fit your every whim and desire – you could go for a standard classic Mickey like this one, or really go nuts – anything is possible with the Disney Celebration team

Cake Wedding

Of course you can always go with the over the top Disney Wedding – complete with beautiful tiered Castle cake (looks almost too pretty to eat doesn’t it?)

Here’s a new Disney cake offering – a “Cake Cup” – layers of cake and frosting, available at Cheshire Café in the Magic Kingdom – Check out Disney Food Blog’s Review for more info

At WDW you really can have your cake and eat it too – pretty much any and all kinds – and they are all delicious enough to satisfy even the biggest sweet tooth out there!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – DISNEY IS SO CLOSE I CAN TASTE IT!

My husband and I leave TOMORROW for our week in Disney World – and I can’t even begin to express how excited I am about it! Disney is an amazing place to be, but at Christmas it is even better – and I can’t WAIT to wake up on Christmas morning at the happiest place on earth!

As I was packing, I got to thinking about the things I am most looking forward to

TGIFCastle

That first view of Cinderella’s Castle from the entrance to Main Street is probably one of my all-time favorite sights (it will likely move me to tears, sappy, I know)

TGIF Characters

Getting a hug from your favorite character is great – it makes you feel like a kid again!

TGIFcupcake

The FOOD at Disney is something to look forward to for sure. At the top of my “must eat” list? One of these hugely delicious Butterfinger Cupcakes

TGIFride

One of the greatest things of all is getting to see my husband and family enjoy themselves – and Star Tours is definitely one of my husband’s favorites, so I am sure we will be riding it multiple times!

So much to look forward to! Can’t wait to leave tomorrow, and next week I will be coming to you LIVE from WALT DISNEY WORLD so stay tuned for that 

Delicious Disney Desserts– At Home!

I have written before about various Disney cookbooks and online resources like Magical Recipes where you can go to get Disney recipes, and I have to say, I really do love recreating these at home – especially the desserts! I love baking (I love it so much I even blog about it), and I love recreating Disney treats at home too, so I decided I would pull together a list of my faves to share with you:

Top 5 Disney DIY Baked Goods:

Double Chocolate cookies – These are easy to make, and delicious – who doesn’t love chocolate plus more chocolate? You can find these at The Main Street Bakery in Disney’s Magic Kingdom – pair them with a tall glass of milk and you have a delicious snack (or breakfast perhaps? No judgment here)

BCupcake

Butterfinger Cupcakes – These are simply amazing – it’s a chocolate cupcake with a fudge center, and its topped with a mound of whipped frosting covered in a chocolate shell encrusted with butterfinger pieces. It’s a lot to take in, but it’s a perfect snack to share (or not share, depending on how hungry you are!). You can find these at Starring Roles over at Disney’s Hollywood Studios

CarrotCakeCookie

Carrot cake cookies – a must try at the Writer’s Stop in Hollywood Studios – with two moist cookies encasing a mound of delicious frosting – this treat will satisfy that sweet tooth of yours for sure

chocolate-peanut-butter-sandwich

Chocolate peanut butter sandwich – graham crackers and peanut butter and chocolate combine to make the perfect treat (not to mention one that’s easy to recreate at home!). These squares of yumminess can be found at the Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom

Dole-whip-float

Dole Whip –Ok, so this one doesn’t technically count as “baking”, but it IS a Disney cult classic that is loved by all – it’s simple, refreshing, and tropically delicious

I also write weekly articles over at Chip and Company and I have been doing a series on Disney DIY recipes, which has been super fun, to research recipes used at the Parks and try them out and write about them – talk about a delicious experiment!

I highly recommend you give these and my others over at Chip and Co a try at home – whether you are having a party or you’re just hungry for that Disney Magic!

SHARING is CARING! (…Sharing WDW FOOD that is)

The cost of a Walt Disney World vacation is something I have discussed here before, as it tends to be on the expensive side. There are a lot of ways you can save money on your WDW vacation, and one of them is by doing something that’s taught in preschools all over the world – SHARING! By sharing your Disney meals/snacks with your party, you can save a lot of money!

Disney food is amazing, it’s delicious, always freshly prepared, and the portions also tend to be on the large side – which can be a huge plus for those of you looking to save some $$$ on quick service meals and snacks. Here are some suggestions on items you can share/split:

BountyPlate Breakfast: Most WDW Resort counter service locations offer a “breakfast platter” or a “bounty platter”, which comes with eggs, meat (bacon/sausage, or in some cases ham), breakfast potatoes, and a biscuit/roll/pancakes/waffles. It’s a lot of food – and at under $9, makes breakfast for 2 practically a steal!

TurkeySandLunch/Dinner: I find that the best thing to share at lunch time has to be the deli sandwiches – most places have some form of pre made turkey/ham/roast beef sandwich, and it usually comes with a side of pasta salad or fries (I personally like to opt for the fries because you usually get more, which is a benefit when you’re looking to split up a meal!). Burgers are also a good choice, as most places have them and they tend to be on the large side as well. These items usually run in the $9-$12 range

BCupcake

(he is slightly scared of its giant-ness!)

Snacks: Disney has TONS of amazing snack options, and those that are great for sharing include cookies, popcorn, rice krispie treats, and cupcakes (like this amazing butterfinger cupcake that can be found at Starring Roles in Disney’s Hollywood Studios)

Sharing meals can work for two adults, two kids, an adult and a kid – the way you split meals up is totally up to you, but either way, you will definitely get to enjoy some delicious WDW food, and that’s always a plus in my book!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Free Food? Yes PLEASE!

There are few things that excite the avid Walt Disney World fan as much as the offer of FREE DISNEY FOOD! Disney announced last week that they will be running their popular “Free dining” promotion this fall, which means that if you book a vacation package during the specified dates (September-December), you can add on a Disney Dining Plan for FREE!

Which gets me to thinking…there are so many amazing Disney foods, but there are definitely a few that I absolutely cannot live without:

WaffleMickey Waffles – crisp on the outside, fluffy on the inside – I could (and have!) eat 10 of these!

cupcakeThe Butterfinger Cupcake can be found around Hollywood Studios, and it is HUGE – but more than that, it is amazing- moist chocolate cake, whipped fluffy frosting topped with a chocolate shell and butterfinger bits, and a fudge-y surprise center – this is the ultimate snack!

MickeybarOh, and of course – the Mickey Bar – classic, simple, and still delicious and perfect on a hot day (better eat it fast though…nothing worse than a melted Mickey!

These are just a few of the amazing foods you could try while enjoying your WDW vacation, complete with free dining plan!
