T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week: My Top WDW Photo Opp Spot

I LOVE LOVE taking photos – of anything and everything! These days its mostly my son, and my dog, but when I am on vacation I try to capture it ALL – the sights, the people, the fun – needless to say, I usually end up with A LOT of photos to sort through after a trip to Walt Disney World. I take photos everywhere in Disney – on rides, in line for rides, in stores, and in anyplace you can think of basically, but I have to say, there is one spot that is my favorite place to pose for (and take!) pictures:

Main Street USA is the perfect picture spot – the view of the quaint “street”, storefronts, and Castle in the distance – it doesn’t get much more “Disney” than that. I can’t wait to take my son and get our first family photo in front of the castle someday!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Top 3 Disney Things I Can’t WAIT To Share

I cannot WAIT to take my little guy to Disney World – and speaking of waits – this one is KILLING me! We originally wanted to wait until he turns 4 to take him, but I seriously cannot last that long – so I am attempting to convince my husband that we should go when he turns 3. Does this mean diapers? Probably. Does it mean renting/bringing a stroller? Probably….which is seriously one of my pet peeves. But the bottom line is – I want him to experience all the amazing things WDW has to offer, and to start making his own Disney memories! What am I most excited to share with him? Well, everything of course – but there are 3 things that stand out:

The Castle – There are few things quite like this view down Main Street USA, when you’re standing right by the entrance and can see Cinderella’s Castle off in the distance…makes me tear up every time (yeah, I’m a nostalgic weirdo, it’s cool – I own that about myself)

The MOUSE – I cannot wait to see what he thinks of Mickey! Of course there’s the possibility that he will scream, cry, and refuse to get near him, but I personally think he will be more curious than anything – he will want to touch his nose and pat his head, for sure. No matter how it turns out, it will be a memorable moment, for sure!

His First Mickey Bar – He loves ice cream, and he REALLY enjoys making a mess – so this is the perfect treat for him! Seriously though, it’s like a rite of passage – having a Mickey Bar while watching the parade make its way down Main Street is a must-do, and I will be there to capture the moment on camera (and will have a packet of wipes on standby for the aftermath too…). I am sure he will love them just as much (if not more!) than his dad does (his smile says it all, doesn’t it?)

I am hoping to get to share these (and many more!) Disney moments with my son next fall – but I might have to exercise patience and wait another year…either way, it will be the first of many amazing family trips to the Happiest Place On Earth!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – The Disney Things I Miss The Most

Time between vacations can seem like an ETERNITY – and this is ESPECIALLY true for time between Disney trips (because Disney World is the best place EVER to take a vacation, obviously!). Since my son was born, we have talked about taking him to WDW when he is younger but we will likely wait until he is about 4 – which is QUITE a ways away at this point, and I gotta say, there are some Disney things I am missing a LOT right now:

Mickey shaped foods just taste better. It’s a tested, tried and true fact – and if you don’t believe me, then you might want to check out some Mickey foods for yourself – like maybe a Mickey Waffle?

Shopping. Don’t judge me. I like to shop, and I like to shop at Disney World especially – checking out all the stores and seeing what new merchandise they have, and narrowing it down to see what the few things are I will bring home with me – it’s a ritual, and one that I love

This view of Main Street USA – It’s my fave place in the whole world, and I can’t wait to be back here again!

Wearing Mickey ears at work or out at the mall or the park is apparently not normal (ugh) – but wearing them at Disney is the norm, and I miss seeing heads upon heads of Mickey everywhere I look

Most of all, I just miss the feeling I get when I am at Disney – that happiness that I have come HOME. I can’t wait to get back!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Enjoy Some 100 Acre Wood Fun In The Magic Kingdom

As a kid, I REALLY loved Winnie The Pooh – so much so that I wore out the video tapes (yeah, videos – you remember, the ancestor to the blu-ray?). Luckily for me, I can get my Winnie the Pooh fix right at the Magic Kingdom as there’s a ride and restaurant just for us 100 Acre Wood Fanatics!

The Crystal Palace is a buffet that serves up breakfast, lunch, and dinner daily – with a side helping of characters of course! Pooh, Tigger, Piglet and Eeyore circulate and hand out hugs and autographs and pose for pictures while you get to enjoy the delicious buffet! Check out my breakfast review on the Disney Food Blog for more details

Then once you are full from your delicious Crystal Palace eats, I suggest you head over to The Many Adventures Of Winnie The Pooh ride (don’t worry, it is safe to ride on a full stomach – and kid friendly too!) – where you travel through the classic Winnie The Pooh stories (blustery day and Heffelumps anyone?) while riding in an adorable honey pot

Oh – but don’t be sad once the ride is over! As there is of course a gift shop where you can bring home your very own Eeyore or other cuddly Pooh character!

My husband and I leave TOMORROW for our week in Disney World – and I can’t even begin to express how excited I am about it! Disney is an amazing place to be, but at Christmas it is even better – and I can’t WAIT to wake up on Christmas morning at the happiest place on earth!

As I was packing, I got to thinking about the things I am most looking forward to

That first view of Cinderella’s Castle from the entrance to Main Street is probably one of my all-time favorite sights (it will likely move me to tears, sappy, I know)

TGIF Characters

Getting a hug from your favorite character is great – it makes you feel like a kid again!

The FOOD at Disney is something to look forward to for sure. At the top of my “must eat” list? One of these hugely delicious Butterfinger Cupcakes

One of the greatest things of all is getting to see my husband and family enjoy themselves – and Star Tours is definitely one of my husband’s favorites, so I am sure we will be riding it multiple times!

So much to look forward to! Can’t wait to leave tomorrow, and next week I will be coming to you LIVE from WALT DISNEY WORLD so stay tuned for that 

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Cinderella’s Castle Celebrates With New Looks

Cinderella’s Castle is a thing of beauty – it stands tall and proud at the end of Main Street USA in the Magic Kingdom, and I know I could spend hours just staring at it! The Castle has its classic look that we all know and love, but it also takes on other forms too – check out how the castle’s “wardrobe”

In 1996, the Castle was transformed into a GIANT birthday cake to commemorate Walt Disney World’s 25th anniversary. The pink “icing” is made up of over 400 gallons of paint, plus an additional 1000 feet of inflatable “icing” was added to give it that “cake-y” look. The celebration went on throughout the Parks, and lasted through January of 1998 when the Castle was changed back to its original state

When the sun sets, the castle is illuminated by LED light fixtures that are placed on different castle levels and the surrounding areas, providing an effective range of 16.7 million colors

At closing time, the nightly ‘Kiss Goodnight’ is performed, with Roy Disney’s Magic Kingdom dedication speech played as the Castle changes colors in time with Disney music

The “Castle Dream Lights” are comprised of over 200,000 LED lights that cover the Castle and give it a festive look for the holiday season. What’s cool about these lights is they are actually sort of “draped” onto the Castle in nets that are colored to match the Castle and blend in during the daytime (if you get close you can see the web of lights against the castle surface!)

Wishes fireworks show (with Cinderella Castle behind), Magic Kingdom, Walt Disney World, Orlando, Florida USA

“Wishes” is the Magic Kingdom’s nightly show that combines music, lights, and projections onto the Castle, and ends with a spectacular fireworks show! It’s a really fun show to watch for those of all ages

Well, WDW sure knows how to dress up the Castle, and I feel grateful to have seen it in ALL of its different forms throughout the years
