T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Disney Tattoo #3?

I am a big tattoo fan – and I especially love when Disney fans express their devotion through Disney Themed Ink. I’m proud to admit that I am part of the “Disney Tattoo Club” – as I have TWO Disney-inspired tattoos:

Tat 1

Alice In Wonderland is one of my all-time favorite Disney movies – I love both the animated and live action versions, and this quote is the best – it reminds me not only of my love for the movie, but of the fact that everyone is crazy in their own way (which is oddly comforting, don’t you think?)

Tat 2

I got this Walt Disney quote a few years ago – and it’s a reminder that if you really want something, there’s always a way to make it happen for yourself

Outside

So now that I’ve got this little guy running around and making my life absolutely amazing, I want to get a Disney themed tattoo that represents him and my family

 Tat Ohana 2

The thing that immediately comes to mind is the word “Ohana” which means “Family” – and according to Lilo and Stitch “Ohana means family – and family means no one gets left behind, or forgotten” which may be corny, but I don’t care – I love it

Tat Ohana

Apparantly this is a pretty popular tattoo – as there are TONS of variations out there

Tat Ohana Drawing

Personally, I am thinking of doing something like this – with my son’s initials in the heart (please excuse the crudity of the drawing as I am NOT an artist ha!)

I love the idea of combining my love for Disney with my even bigger love for my little guy! What about YOU – do you have a Disney tattoo already, or are you thinking about getting one?

Tat Stitch

That’s right, Stitch ❤

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – All Time Favorite Disney Moments

There are some vacation memories that stand out in our minds as being the perfect moment – and throughout all my trips to Disney, I have definitely had a BUNCH of these – moments where I just stop and think “wow, this is amazing and perfect and I wish this could last forever!” Of course, it can’t last forever – but the memory of it can, and so can the pictures (my personal favorite souvenir of all time!). Check out some of my top Disney moments:

???????????????????????????????

When my husband and I went to Disney for our honeymoon, I hadn’t been there in over 7 years – and when I stood at the start of Main Street and stared down at the Castle in the distance – I got a little misty eyed – and the only thought I had was “I’m FINALLY home”

Osb Lights1

My parents, husband and I spent the week of Christmas at Walt Disney World two years ago – and we had SO MUCH FUN! Waking up at Disney on Christmas day has to be the ultimate in Christmas dreams come true (thanks Santa!), but I have to say the best moment of the whole trip was when we went to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights on Christmas Day. We went early so we could see them be lit, and it was an amazing experience – the music, the lights, the (fake) snow, it was the absolute perfect thing to do on Christmas Day and I think of that memory often

Duffy

When Duffy The Disney Bear came on the scene, I just thought he was the cutest thing – and I loved the backstory of how Minnie made him for Mickey so he wouldn’t be lonely on long trips. So I knew I had to meet him – pronto. I made my way to his character meet and greet in Epcot, and was saddened to see that he wasn’t there – but after only a few minutes, he appeared and I got to meet him! I was so excited, and I would say this was definitely one of my favorite character encounters ever!

I have been lucky enough to get to travel to Disneyland once – and it was such a great experience! I love how different it is from Disney World, and yet how similar it is too (yeah, that seems weird to say, but it’s true!) and I love that it was a place where Walt actually went and took his family there, and that he created from the ground up

Vacations are a perfect place to have fun, relax, and make memories with the ones you love! I am so grateful and lucky to have gotten to travel to Disney and have these moments with my family – and I can’t WAIT to bring my little guy to Disney so he can start making memories of his own!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Adios Sorcerer Hat!

Disney World is an ever changing, ever evolving place – they are constantly introducing new rides, attractions, food, restaurants, characters, merchandise…the list goes on. Needless to say, I don’t think anyone can accuse them of not being innovative. Changes are being made every day all around the Disney Parks, and one of those changes I am personally pretty excited about is the removal of the Sorcerer’s Hat at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In case you aren’t familiar with the hat, it’s that HUGE thing with Mickey ears you can see the minute you enter the park:

hat.jpg

It appeared in 2001 as a part of the “100 years of magic” celebration, and it originally housed interactive kiosks where you could learn about the career and life of the man himself – Walt Disney. Once the celebration ended in 2003, the kiosks were removed and the hat served as a special events venue as well as a pin trading/purchase site. Disney announced it would be removed in October 2014 as part of a Hollywood Studios makeover. Here’s a look at how the de-construction is going:

No word on what will replace it, but I am sure it will be something awesome (stay tuned for more news on that right here!). And in the meantime, enjoy the awesome view of the Great Movie Ride that is now unobstructed! Yay!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Happy (Belated) Birthday To The World’s Favorite Mouse!

Can you believe this guy celebrated his 86th Birthday on Tuesday? He looks pretty good for 86, I think! It’s hard to imagine a character being able to stay relevant and entertain audiences for that long, but I guess that’s what makes Mickey so special! Of course, he has had a few tweaks and changes over time – So here’s a peek at Mickey’s different looks throughout the years…

 TGIF Mickey 1

Mickey Mouse through the years

I love this poster – we have it hanging at my parent’s house, and I especially love “Today” Mickey – he is so late 80’s early 90’s don’t you think?

TGIF Mickey 3

Here he is on the opening day of Disneyland Park in 1955 with his creator, Walt Disney

TGIF Mickey 4

And here he is on opening day of the Magic Kingdom at Disney World in Florida, 1971

Something tells me Mickey has a lot more entertaining to do, and that he will be delighting audiences of all ages for many years to come. So here’s to you Mickey Mouse – HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

I FINALLY Saw Saving Mr. Banks – And LOVED IT!

Saving Mr banks

Ok, so I am a bit behind in my movie viewing – but I finally saw Saving Mr. Banks last night – and I LOVED IT! I honestly was holding off as I wasn’t sure how I would like it – I had seen clips and previews and I knew how Emma Thompson would be portraying PL Travers – I knew she would be tough and unlikeable, so I honestly didn’t know if I wanted to bother with it – But I am glad I did! The story was heartfelt and I even shed a few tears (don’t judge me!)

For those of you who aren’t familiar with the story, here’s a rundown: it’s set in the 1960’s, and the premise is that Walt Disney (played by the always charismatic Tom Hanks) is trying to convince author PL Travers to allow him to purchase the rights to her Mary Poppins character and story. This has been going on for 20 years of him trying to convince her, and finally she agrees to come to Walt Disney Studios in California and meet with him. She is stubborn to a fault with her vision for the movie, with crazy demands and script changes, as we watch the story come together through bits of song (familiar ones like “Let’s go fly a kite” and “A Spoonful of Sugar”), drawings, flashbacks, and arguments. PL Travers is hesitant to give up the story partly due to her troubled past – a past we see unfold and one that Walt sympathizes with and that allows him to connect with her on a deeper level.

Without being too much of a spoiler, I wanted to share my favorite moment of the movie. PL Travers arrives in LA and walks into her hotel suite, which is filled with Disney merchandise – stuffed Mickeys, Minnies, Goofys, Donald, Chip and Dale – the whole gang is there to welcome her. She is of course disgusted by this silly display and shoves it all in the closet. Just when she thinks she is done, she walks into the bedroom to find a GIANT Mickey Mouse stuffed toy on the bed!

The movie truly did a great job combining humor and drama into the movie, and it truly was a great film. I highly recommend you rent it today!

WDW – Where To Start?

So you have made it to Walt Disney World – hooray! Now the question is – where do I start? Which Park do I visit first? Well, maybe this can help you make that decision…

ParkFirst

So what’s the verdict? Personally, I am a Magic Kingdom girl all the way, which is confirmed with this chart!

(I borrowed this image from the Disney Parks Blog – it was too fun not to share!)
