T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Top Travel Accessories – Toddler Edition

As we are now officially under the 6 month mark until we head to Walt Disney World, I am really starting to think about our trip more – logistics, itinerary, packing, meals, etc – it’s all slowly starting to infiltrate my brain – and one thing I know that I will need is some Toddler Friendly Travel Accessories, as it will be our son’s first time going far away from home, and also his first time on an airplane! I want him to be comfortable and safe, and to also have fun and enjoy all the new things he will get to see and experience! I am definitely planning on stocking up on some Travel Accessories to help ensure he has a great time:

I definitely want to get him his very own backpack for the trip – as it will allow him to feel like a big boy, and will also have the bonus of getting some of his toys/snacks/stuff out of mom’s bag and into his own (mom win!)

And to go on that backpack (and all of our other luggage, too!) we will need some handy Luggage Tags – which obviously serve the practical purpose of providing our contact information should it get lost, but I like these ones for the added ability to be easily spotted – even by toddler eyes – anything you can do to make your luggage stand out in a sea of bags is a good thing in my book!

And of course, the adorable backpack will need to be filled with fun activities for the little one – like this Magnetic Playset that will keep him occupied during the more boring bits of the trip

Once we arrive and head to the Parks, safety will certainly be forefront in my mind – which is why I love the idea of these ID bracelets – put one on the kid each day with my phone number, just in case

Nothing can really prepare you for that first time you experience a truly hot Orlando afternoon – the sun beating down on you, the heat, the humidity – it can be overwhelming, and I want to make sure we are all as comfortable as possible when it comes to dealing with the heat. Loose/light colored shirts, sunscreen (and plenty of it!), hats/sunglasses – and one of these – a super convenient invention called a misting fan – that you can fill with water to help you stay as cool as possible at the Parks (by the way – this is one item you can buy at the Parks – but they tend to be overpriced, so I plan on getting mine ahead of time off Amazon!)

As usual – I am NOT AT ALL being compensated by Amazon or any of the sellers of these products – they are just ones I know will help us have a great Disney World trip this fall!

Stay tuned – next week I will share some of my top Travel Accessories for Adults!

Disney With Toddlers – The Stroller Dilemma

It has been SO LONG since I have had time to write a non TGIF post for this blog – just – wow. As a mom you always feel like there’s about 847 things pulling you in every direction, requiring – no – DEMANDING your attention – and it’s hard to find time for much aside from the day to day. Not an excuse – just reality

Toddler life is intense – but AMAZING. I get to watch this guy learn and grow every day!

And in less than a year, we’re all headed to Walt Disney World for our first family trip – and I can’t WAIT. I am pretty close to starting to count down the days (even though we aren’t going until next September!) – as I can’t wait to get back to my favorite place in the world, and to show my son all the Magic!

There is ONE thing that is starting to pose somewhat of a dilemma though – and it’s how to answer this question – to Stroller or not to Stroller?

Should we bring our stroller to Disney World?

Why I am thinking “Yes”
-An average day at the Disney Parks means WALKING – MILES AND MILES of it – and as strong and big as he is -I KNOW he cannot handle walking as much as we do in Disney – he will get tired and cranky and the stroller is the perfect thing to help prevent that
-I can stash my crap in the bottom of the stroller – no backpack lugging for me! Plus – strollers have cup holders
-Snacks on the go – gives him the chance to eat while we stroll – even has the built in tray and cup holder on the front of it
-Airport ease – The Disney Parks aren’t the only place that are HUGE – walking from one gate to another for a connecting flight at a bigger airport (like Atlanta – which is typically where we connect through) could potentially be a disaster with an un-strollered toddler in tow. Stroller makes it easier and faster to get from point A to point B
-He’s comfortable in it – he likes sitting in it, he’s used to it, it’s easy to push/maneuver

Why I’m thinking “No Way”
-Airport issues – while it may help you make your connecting flight in time, the stroller can also be a pain when it comes to air travel. It has to be inspected at security, and each airline has a slightly different procedure when it comes to checking strollers. Most gate check them, which means in theory you get it back right when you get off – but that can be a process that takes time, and there’s always the potential for the airline to “misplace” it accidentally
-Stroller parking lots – Outside every ride at Walt Disney World is a huge area FULL of strollers – since you obviously can’t bring it inside the rides with you, you’re forced to leave it alone outside – but you wouldn’t want to leave your valuables with it, so then that means toting those along with you on every ride, and then there’s always the (super slim but still it exists) possibility that your stroller could get damaged or stolen while you’re away from it
-It’s huge. I mean – it’s a normal size for a stroller, but let’s face it – all strollers are huge, cumbersome, and awkward to carry when folded up – and that on top of luggage can quickly turn into a huge ordeal
-Dragging it around is going to be a pain – folding it up and carrying it on the buses/monorails/boats…

I could go on and on about the pros and cons – but at the end of the day, I am pretty sure I am leaning towards sucking it up and bringing the stroller along to Walt Disney World. It really will be useful to have, and will help my son get to enjoy more of the Disney experience

And hey – it’s not like I’m alone – there will be plenty of other parents toting around their toddlers strollers and loving every minute of it! And if all else fails – there’s always wine.

Hopefully in the coming months I will be able to make more time to devote to writing about Disney – I mean, I think about it enough, shouldn’t be that hard to put those thoughts to paper, right? In theory anyway…We shall see. #WishMeLuck
