T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My All Time Favorite Trip Pics

I love taking a look back at photos from my trips to Disney – each one holds a special memory – and I love remembering the great times I’ve had there! There are some photos that stand out for me, ones that I always come back to and that make me smile no matter what…

MainStreetCastle

This was one of the first photos taken on our honeymoon – I hadn’t been to Disney in 8 years, and I was so excited to finally be back and standing in my favorite spot – at the base of Main Street, in front of the Castle – with the World at my feet (the DISNEY world that is!)

TGIF Characters

While we were on our honeymoon, we dined at Chef Mickey’s – and when Minnie came to greet us, she made a big fuss over my rings and our new marriage, it was so cute!

IceCream

I FINALLY got to try the Gold Rush peanut butter sundae at Ghiradelli in Downtown Disney a few years ago – it was SO GOOD! Sadly, the location is now closed, but I still have the memory of how yummy it was!

1900 6

There are few things better than waking up on Christmas morning at Walt Disney World – which I was lucky enough to do two years ago! We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and enjoyed the amazing buffet and characters – here we are posing in front of the gorgeous tree in the lobby of the Grand Floridian!

Spending Christmas in Disney was amazing – and the most amazing thing of all that we did that week was getting to watch the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights be lit at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – they do a little ceremony where Goofy dressed as Santa comes and flips a giant switch and suddenly there’s lights, music, and even snow!

What about you – what are YOUR favorite Disney moments?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – All Time Favorite Disney Moments

There are some vacation memories that stand out in our minds as being the perfect moment – and throughout all my trips to Disney, I have definitely had a BUNCH of these – moments where I just stop and think “wow, this is amazing and perfect and I wish this could last forever!” Of course, it can’t last forever – but the memory of it can, and so can the pictures (my personal favorite souvenir of all time!). Check out some of my top Disney moments:

???????????????????????????????

When my husband and I went to Disney for our honeymoon, I hadn’t been there in over 7 years – and when I stood at the start of Main Street and stared down at the Castle in the distance – I got a little misty eyed – and the only thought I had was “I’m FINALLY home”

Osb Lights1

My parents, husband and I spent the week of Christmas at Walt Disney World two years ago – and we had SO MUCH FUN! Waking up at Disney on Christmas day has to be the ultimate in Christmas dreams come true (thanks Santa!), but I have to say the best moment of the whole trip was when we went to see the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights on Christmas Day. We went early so we could see them be lit, and it was an amazing experience – the music, the lights, the (fake) snow, it was the absolute perfect thing to do on Christmas Day and I think of that memory often

Duffy

When Duffy The Disney Bear came on the scene, I just thought he was the cutest thing – and I loved the backstory of how Minnie made him for Mickey so he wouldn’t be lonely on long trips. So I knew I had to meet him – pronto. I made my way to his character meet and greet in Epcot, and was saddened to see that he wasn’t there – but after only a few minutes, he appeared and I got to meet him! I was so excited, and I would say this was definitely one of my favorite character encounters ever!

I have been lucky enough to get to travel to Disneyland once – and it was such a great experience! I love how different it is from Disney World, and yet how similar it is too (yeah, that seems weird to say, but it’s true!) and I love that it was a place where Walt actually went and took his family there, and that he created from the ground up

Vacations are a perfect place to have fun, relax, and make memories with the ones you love! I am so grateful and lucky to have gotten to travel to Disney and have these moments with my family – and I can’t WAIT to bring my little guy to Disney so he can start making memories of his own!

Disney Dining Selections – Where To Begin?

 Pork

One of the best – and most challenging things about planning a Walt Disney World vacation is deciding where you want to eat while you’re there. Disney allows you to make ADR’s (advance dining reservations) 180 days prior to your vacation, which is great, but daunting at the same time

As an all adult party, we want to try and get a good mix of places, some that are more “adult friendly” (ie – ones that have good wine and beer lists and fine dining options!) as well as a few that feature characters (because deep down aren’t we all just big kids?). Also, we knew there were some places we had to revisit, but wanted to make sure we were trying new things too

So where do we begin? Well, for us, we know there are a few “must do’s”, which include:
Chef Mickey’s – A chracter meal where you get to meet Mickey, Minnie, Goofy, Pluto and
Donald while enjoying a range of buffet options. Often overlooked by ‘food snobs’ as being sub-par in the buffet department, but
I have always loved it – especially the soft serve ice cream sundae bar!

Crystal Palace – Another character meal – this time Winnie The Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and
Piglet roam the dining room for hugs and pictures while you enjoy a delicious buffet that serves up 3 meals a day. The food is
a lot better than at Chef Mickey’s, and the location of this restaurant is great – its right on Main Street in the Magic Kingdom

Raglan Road Irish Pub – We’ve been to this Downtown Disney twice now, and can’t get enough of its huge bar
menu (with a big beer selection), amazing Irish dishes, and live entertainment. A must do, for sure

And of course we will want to try some new things, including Be Our Guest in the New Fantasyland, and some Italian at Via Napoli over in Epcot would be a great new experience for us too!

disney-dining-plan

We will be using the Disney Dining Plan, which entitles each of us to 1 Table Service (sit down), 1 Counter service (fast food type) and 1 snack per person, per day, so this means that we will be planning 1 meal per day in advance. One thing that kind of throws a wrench in things is that we will be there at Christmas time, which means the Parks will be crowded, and that everyone will want to have a “special” meal booked for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. Of course the Parks do some special meals to help people celebrate, which means that it will be even tougher to get a restaurant reservation for those days.

I guess at the end of the day, I will plan it out as best I can, and if we end up eating Butterfinger cupcakes and Turkey Legs for our family Christmas Dinner, who cares? At least I will still be with the people I love most at the place I love most!

So the best advice I can give to someone who is trying to plan their Disney meals is to use the Walt Disney World website to do some research and try something new – you’re on vacation after all, so step our of your comfort zone and try some African food, or Chinese or Japanese to mix it up!
