T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Character Interaction At It’s Finest

One of the BEST things about visiting Disney World is getting the chance to meet and great your favorite characters – and I firmly believe that no one is too old for a hug from Mickey Mouse or Pooh! We have had some truly amazing character interactions over the years:

Donald dressed as Davey Crockett is a pretty regular fixture over in the Magic Kingdom’s Frontierland – and we visited him at the perfect time on this day, as there was NO line, and he was feeling feisty to boot! My husband has a really cool old Mickey shaped film camera (remember film? Ha) that he happened to be carrying around that day – and Donald did NOT care for it – he shook his fist at it in fury – as he believed it should have been a Donald camera instead!

We were lucky enough to be the very last people to get to see Tigger and Eeyore on this particular morning – and even though they had just signed countless autographs and dealt with lord knows how many crying babies, they still had huge hugs for us, and we were able to capture this great picture with them, too

When Minnie found out we had just gotten married she was SO happy for us! She even gave my groom a kiss!
I can’t wait until my son is old enough to get to meet his favorite characters, and I hope his first interactions with them are as great as these!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Do People Still Use Film Cameras?

dis_reala_003

Isn’t that a beautiful picture of Cinderella’s Castle at Walt Disney World? Believe it or not – this was taken using a film camera. You remember those right? Carrying around those yellow Kodak boxes and winding to advance to the next photo…you don’t see people doing that too often anymore. However – my husband is pretty old school and is an avid collector and user of film cameras – he has tons at home, and loves bringing them on vacation with us. He captured some pretty amazing things on this last Disney trip…

Check out his full Disney Christmas album here, and while you’re at it, check out his other photos too

Is this partly a shameless shoutout to get you to go check out my husband’s amazing photos? Well…yes. But in my defense – it’s not often you see people taking photos at Disney World with a film camera, and it’s pretty cool to get to see just how awesome they turned out!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Spotlight On Disney’s Hollywood Studios

Disney’s Hollywood Studios is one of my favorite of the 4 Theme Parks – it’s ‘streets’, live performers, rides and attractions emulate the Hollywood glamour of the early 20th century. As you stand at the entrance, you’re taken in by the sights and sounds of Old Hollywood, and if you listen closely, you can even hear the screams coming from the Tower of Terror

Check out some of my favorite “Hollywood” spots:

KodakThis “camera” store is a favorite of my husbands (he is a huge film camera fan/advocate/collector)

Sorc HatHere we are posing near the entrance – you can see Mickey’s giant Sorcerer’s Hat behind us!

FozzieClowning around outside Muppet Vision 3D –one of my personal faves

DorothySeeing if the “slipper” fits outside of the Great Movie Ride

DarthDarth Vader shows us all who’s boss outside of Star Tours (my husband’s fave ride!)

Hollywood Studios has a lot to offer – and for you movie lovers out there, I suggest you check it out – it’s pure heaven!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Smile For The Mickey Camera!

One of my favorite things to do while at Disney World is to take pictures, of anything and everything, so that I can capture all the amazing things we did and it’s a great way to relive the trip once we are back at home and in our post-Disney depression (yes, that really is a thing!)

My husband is also very much into taking pictures, but while I prefer digital, he is old school – he shoots exclusively on film, and has a rather large camera collection with some pretty cool cameras (remember film? I do – barely!)

One of the cameras he and I were both VERY excited to purchase was this Mick-A-Matic camera, circa 1970. It takes 126/instamatic film (which is pretty hard to come by nowadays since it hasn’t been manufactured since the 80’s!), and the picture quality isn’t the best, but let’s be honest – it’s all about the shape in this case!

We strolled down Main Street taking photos with this one day, and we got quite the reaction from Donald Duck himself, who was signing autographs in Frontierland – he shook his fist at it and was pretty angry that we weren’t using a Donald camera! He only calmed down and gave us the thumbs up when we said we promised to get a Donald camera for next time!

It’s a pretty cool addition to his camera collection, and it was definitely a blast to get to use it at the home of Mickey-Disney World!

We stayed at POP Century for this trip, and it is full of nostalgic memorabilia from the last 50 years. Behind the check in desk is this picture, and we thought it was pretty cool that our camera was famous (well kind of ha!)

It was a great find and while Donald might not like it, it reminds us of the Happiest Place On Earth!
