T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – The Mine Train Is (Finally!) Officially Open!

May 28th marked the first official day that WDW’s newest ride – the Seven Dwarves Mine Train – was open to the public! I previously wrote about the ride’s construction and the various “soft openings” that have been happening over the past few weeks and months, but now it’s time to take a look at the real thing!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Opens Up In New Fantasyland

Disney has been working hard on the Fantasyland Expansion for quite some time now, but it seems that the end is finally in sight! One of the final pieces of the puzzle in the works is the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Roller Coaster – which is set to open this Spring!

This “family coaster” experience takes you through the mines where you can visit Snow White’s Seven Dwarfs hard at work! The queue for the ride will be interactive, and the combination of “dark” parts and thrill ride is perfect for those of all ages!

Here’s an idea of some of the work that has gone into creating the ride:

More news to come as we learn when it will officially open to the public – at this point there has been testing and “soft openings” (aka allowing limited numbers of guests to experience the attractions), but no grand opening yet. Stay tuned!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Going “Under The Sea” With The Little Mermaid

There have been a lot of changes around Walt Disney World lately – many of them can be seen in the New Fantasyland, where you will find Ariel and her friends come to life on the ride “Under The Sea – Journey Of The Little Mermaid

Sign

Eric Castle

  Shells

You enter the ride through Prince Eric’s Castle, and board a “shell” to take your journey

Kiss The Girl

Dancing FIsh

Where else but WDW can you ride through the sea and see mermaid, a prince, and dancing fish all in one place?

After you are done with your voyage, head over to Ariel’s Grotto and meet the Mermaid herself!

I personally cannot WAIT to check out this area and the ride when I head to WDW in December – The Little Mermaid is a classic from my childhood that I watched over and over – and seeing it come to life would be a dream come true!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – New Attractions Means More Shopping at WDW!

I have mentioned some updates and details on the Fantasyland Expansion, and of course any time Disney opens a new ride or Park, they have to have tons of awesome merchandise to go along with it!

One of the movies being showcased in the new Fantasyland is The Little Mermaid (a personal favorite and a classic from my own childhood!), and so I can’t wait to purchase some of these goodies, including an actual dinglehopper!

Beauty And The Beast is now a huge focus of Fantasyland too, and these souvenir cups are great ways to bring a piece of the magic home with you (and to of course enjoy a delicious beverage in as well!)

I personally can’t wait to visit the new Fantasyland next September and see all the amazing changes that are being made! What about you – are you looking forward to checking it out?

The New Fantasyland – Making The Magic Kingdom More Adult Friendly?

Disney is working hard on their Fantasyland Expansion, adding new attractions and restaurants that will all be open for guests to enjoy by the end of the year.

One of the changes they are making is the creation of a Beauty And The Beast themed area featuring a castle, tavern, and restaurant. The Be Our Guest Restaurant will serve a French themed counter service lunch and sit down dinner, which includes a beer and wine list that is also French inspired (check out the recently released menus here). What is unique about this is that this is the first time that alcohol has EVER been served in the Magic Kingdom.

Many people are upset about this, saying that alcohol was something Walt didn’t want in the Magic Kingdom, and I personally was shocked to hear the news that they would be serving beer and wine and Be Our Guest. But when I thought about it, I realized it really only was a matter of time before this was going to happen, and besides that, what’s a Grench restaurant without wine, its practically a requirement!

It will be interesting to see if this becomes a trend and if other spots in the Magic Kingdom will start to offer ‘adult beverages’ as well. What do you think, should alcohol be a part of Be Our Guest and the Magic Kingdom?
