T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My Top Disney Souvenir Picks

I don’t know about you, but I personally am a big fan of souvenir shopping. I love checking out what different shops have to offer, and then picking out the perfect item(s) to memorialize my trip with! Disney World has got to be one of the best places ever to shop for souvenirs – they have tons of shops that offer plenty of unique items for you to choose from. Over the years, I have developed a list of items that are the Perfect Disney Souvenirs:

photos CastleNight

Number one souvenir that I strive to get as many of as possible while at Disney is PHOTOS – what better way to remember your trip than with a ton of great pictures? Personally my faves are ones taken in front of the castle, or with characters – and I love displaying them once I get home, too – in frames and albums mostly, but there are plenty of unique ways to display Disney trip photos

Mugs PrincessMug

I LOVE mugs (and personally think that a Disney Mug makes coffee taste better) – so I always try and find a funky new one to bring home with me from each trip.
**Side note for those who don’t use mugs – there are tons of great water bottles/drinkware available at the Parks too!

Pins Muppets

Ok, so – I know what you’re thinking – “ugh pins – I don’t collect those, that’s a stupid souvenir” – and I used to think that too! I started collecting a few years ago when I spotted an adorable Fozzy Bear wearing mickey ears pin on someones backpack – and of course that only came in a set with 7 other Muppet character pins – and so it began. I want to point out though – I am not really that into “pin trading” or getting the newest “limited edition” pins – I tend to just collect ones with a meaning/memory attached to them – like my Main Street Trolley pin that I bought after we had the chance to be the first people to ride it one morning. So, knock it if you want – but there are some pretty cool pins out there!

What About You – What are your “go to” Disney souvenirs?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Celebrating 6 Years Of Marriage With My Love

     FB_IMG_1465230004843

This weekend will mark 6 years of marriage for me and my man – and it’s been quite the journey thus far! We bought a house, new cars, got married, got a dog, had a baby, and have been lucky enough to have gone on some awesome vacations too! We have visited Walt Disney World a bunch of times together, and while I love going anywhere with him and cherish the memories we make on ALL our trips, I have to say – I do hold a particular fondness for our Disney vacations:

To our trips with my parents, where we all got to enjoy the Disney Magic (once even on Christmas Day, which was amazing!)

Unfortunately, we won’t be celebrating our anniversary at Disney this year, but we will be heading to the Disney Store so I can get my fix (lucky me!)

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Unique Ways To Display Your WDW Trip Photos

Disney Trip photos are my absolute favorite souvenir – they are just the best thing, and you can do so much with them! Obviously we have a bunch framed and displayed around our house, but there are plenty of other ways you can show them off:

There are plenty of Disney mugs available for sale both in the Parks and online, but why not make your own instead?

That perfect shot you got of Cinderella’s Castle would look great on your phone, wouldn’t it?

Throw pillows, shower curtains – the possibilities are endless, really. These are examples of items you can get personalized from shutterfly.com (which I love), but I have also used Walmart and Target’s photo departments, and they have just as many awesome items to choose from

So instead of just a photo in a frame, why not mix it up a bit, give those WDW trip photos a new way to shine?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Redecorate With These Awesome Disney Finds!

I don’t know about you, but I have a TON of things I want to get done in 2016: things to clean, things to accomplish, things to change – and things to make better, too! One of the things that’s on my many lists this year is to spruce up the house – do a deep clean and then do some redecorating too, and I am hoping to get some more Disney into my design scheme. If you’re considering doing some redecorating in 2016, then you’ll definitely want to check these out:

       rooms1

You don’t have to be an artist to create an awesome Disney-themed kid’s room – decals are available online or at a lot of local retailers, and anyone can slap a fresh coat of paint on some old furniture to spruce it up!

Disney bedrooms aren’t just for the little ones – using black, white and a splash of red with some Mickey décor can really make for a sharp looking adult bedroom too!

Rooms5

Mickey perks up even the smallest space – and the bathroom is a great space to freshen up (since it gets a lot of use!). Kohl’s has some great Disney bath accessories right now, and they are pretty affordable too!

I love the idea of getting to display all my favorite Disney kitchen ware (most of which I brought back from the Parks), and putting up shelves or hooks in a dining or kitchen area is pretty simple, and a great way to decorate too

One of my favorite Disney trip souvenirs is the photos I take while at WDW – I love looking over them and then printing the best ones for framing and albums. A Disney trip vacation photo wall is a great way to express your love for Disney anywhere you have a blank wall – and you can add things like a pin shadow box too

Hopefully these have inspired you to head to your local home improvement store and get some things done around the house – I know I can’t wait to infuse a little bit more Disney into my house this year!

“Always Be Prepared” – Start Saving NOW For Disney!

photos CastleNight

I know for a fact that I will not be heading to Walt Disney World for a few years – Fall of 2018 to be exact. Why so long? Well, I want to make sure my son is old enough to enjoy it, and he will be 4 then – which is how old I was when I went for the first time. That being said, I am already planning on how I am going to pay for the trip. Why plan so far in advance, you might ask? Well, aside from the fact that I am a planner by nature (lists, budgets, itineraries, etc – they are all soothing to me) – it can be a hefty cost to bring your whole family to Disney…

Plane tickets, Park tickets, car rentals/gas, food, souvenirs….it all adds QUICKLY when you are heading to Disney – and sometimes unforeseen costs can really make a mess of your otherwise carefully planned vacation budget. I recommend you start saving as soon as you can for your future Disney trip – the more money you have saved, the more smoothly your trip will go!

So it may be expensive…the big cost has big rewards though – it’s a magical place, and getting to see my son experience it for the first time is something I already cannot WAIT for

It’s worth EVERY single penny in my book – I am already hoarding my Disney Visa rewards dollars, and am hoping that in a few years, they can turn into a down payment to Disney!

What about you – how do YOU like to save for your vacation?

My Son’s Disney Education – The (REALLY) Early Months

My little guy is already going for the Disney toys - apparently we will be playing Disney Yahtzee tonight!

My little guy is already going for the Disney toys – apparently we will be playing Disney Yahtzee tonight!

There are few things I am adamant about, but waiting until my kid is old enough to enjoy a vacation (and not need a stroller!) is one of them – as I cannot fathom toting a stroller/diaper bag/toys/blankets etc around with me at Walt Disney World, so I am opting to wait until he is about 4 to take him to the Happiest Place On Earth (well, almost 4. 3 maybe – depending on how independent he is….). This means I have approximately 3.5 years to make sure he is schooled in all that is the World of Disney. May seem like a long time, but there’s a LOT TO LEARN!

So how do I teach? Well, I have several methods.

MOVIES: This is probably the most important, and one of the easiest ways to teach kids about Disney – is to show them the works of art that Walt himself and his team of animators and Imagineers created. They may not understand much of the story, but they will love the colors, animation, and songs

BOOKS: Reading to your kids is a great habit to get into, and my little guy loves hearing stories and seeing the pictures. Most Disney classic movies are also available in book form, and they are a great way to introduce them to the joys of reading!

SINGING: Some of you may be wary of this one as not everyone has choir perfect voices, but kids generally LOVE being sung to – even if you aren’t always pitch perfect. I like to sing Mary Poppins songs to my boy, and I help him “dance” to them too

TOYS: There are SO MANY Disney toys out there – they have them at almost every store – from the grocery store, to Wal-Mart and Target and drugstores too! Make sure you pay attention to the recommended ages, so that you can be sure your little one is enjoying the right kind of toy. Personally I love stuffed animals, and so does my son – Mickey’s ears and Tigger’s nose make the best chew toys

It’s NEVER too early to teach your kids about Disney – Or at least that’s what I keep telling myself anyway. At this rate he will be more than ready for his first (of what I am sure will be many) Disney World trip!
