My Top 5 Tips For Saving Time At WDW

Magic Bands

Walt Disney World is a busy place – there are hardly ever any non-busy times at the Parks anymore, which means you can expect to wait for everything from bathrooms to rides and everything in between, too. No one wants to stand around in lines all day, so I suggest you use my top WDW time saving tips to help avoid some of that waiting:

Use The Fastpass+ option: Disney allows you to essentially “Reserve” your spot on 3 rides each day – you pick a time online (you can do this up to 60 days before your trip!), and the information is stored on your Magic Band. You then go to the ride at the designated time, scan your magic band, and go through the (MUCH SHORTER) fastpass line and are on your favorite ride in no time! No 3 hour wait times for you (yes, wait times for rides can get that long – and trust me, it’s not pretty) – this can be a MAJOR time saver for sure!

Make An Itinerary: I know some people hate planning out their days and want to just go with the flow while on vacation – and that will work sometimes at Disney, but I find that it’s good to have even just a basic “what Parks you want to go to which days” type of plan – that way you can plan fastpasses and meals around what park you will be at, and you can avoid having to spend time traveling to another park to try and get there in time for your dining reservation….been there, done that – and that’s why I make an itinerary now!

Hook Up Your Credit Card To Your Magic Band: Magic Bands are amazing – the tiny chip in this bracelet holds the key to your room, your dining reservations, your park tickets, your fastpasses, and your payment information if you want – and trust me, you DO want! Pay for drinks, snacks, souvenirs, meals with just a wave of your wrist! Plus that way you don’t even really need to carry around your credit cards with you when you head to the Parks – win, win!

Make ADR’s: ADR stands for Advance Dining Reservation – which means you can book what table service meals you want to eat at before your trip (180 days before, to be exact!), and when you arrive at the restaurant at the reservation time, you’re put on the list for the next available table for your party. Disney is so crowded these days that walking up to a sit down restaurant and expecting to get a table is near impossible – so I HIGHLY recommend you make some ADR’s before your trip, or else you might end up waiting a LONG time to eat, or waste time trying to find another less busy place to eat

Eat at “Off” Times: Avoid the noon hour and the 5-6pm hours for lunch and dinner – as pretty much ALL Disney dining spots are SUPER crowded at this time, and you’ll end up waiting in long lines for food, and might have to fight someone for an available table too – not worth it, in my opinion. Have a late breakfast, so that you can wait to eat lunch until after 1pm, you’ll save time this way for sure!

Basically – I recommend you plan ahead – and use the ALL the technology Disney has to offer – Magic bands, fastpasses, ADR’s, their mobile app, pre-trip booking via computer – use them, and you will for sure save time and frustration on your next Disney Trip

Disney Quick Tips – Know Your Limits!

SadFaceBusStop

It’s easy to get caught up all that Disney Magic while you’re on vacation at Walt Disney World – so easy in fact that you might get so busy that you forget to eat, or put on sunblock, or sit down and relax, or drink enough water…basically, Disney is distracting. Mostly in good ways, but you’ll want to remember to take care of yourself too while touring the Parks – so I suggest you KNOW YOUR LIMITS:

Food: This is an especially important one for me, with two diabetic parents, we have to keep on a pretty strict eating schedule – making sure we eat meals around the same times each day, and carrying snacks for those in between times helps too. Make sure you are listening to your stomach – and when it rumbles, feed it ASAP!

Drinking: This applies to both alcohol and water – make sure you don’t drink too much alcohol (especially during the day!), and make sure to replenish very frequently with water (bring your own water bottles and refill them often!)

Downtime: Disney has a tendency to make us rush – we want to see it all, and do it all, and we want it all NOW! Well – ok. I get it, I have been there, but guess what – its not possible. You just aren’t going to get to see every single little thing in one day – so stop trying. Take it slow, enjoy the scenery, and when you’re feeling tired – sit down and relax for a bit, or better yet – return to your Disney Resort for a nap or a quick dip in the pool after lunch (when it’s hottest out and the likelyhood of meltdowns and tantrums are highest!)

The urge to rush and run and do it all will definitely happen to you at some point during your WDW vacation – but try and fight it as best you can – make sure you know your limits, and stick to them. If you do, your vacation will be much happier and more fun for everyone!

Avoid These Top 5 Rookie Disney Vacation Mistakes

DSC00685

We all make mistakes – its just a fact of life. When it comes to Walt Disney World vacations there are TONS of mistakes you can make – trust me, I would know, as I have made them ALL and more! Hopefully you can learn from my experience and avoid these top 5 WDW rookie blunders:

Oh I don’t need sunscreen it’s not even sunny! Well that may be true now at 8am when you are leaving your Resort, but not only could it randomly get sunny later, but you can even get a sunburn from an overcast Florida sky – and no one wants a sunburn on day one of vacation, am I right?

It’s so hot I’m just going to wear flip flops instead of sneakers – Ok STOP right there – just don’t even think this way – EVER. Do you know how much walking is involved in a WDW vacation? Miles a day – seriously. Always wear comfortable footwear – preferably broken in sneakers and cotton socks. It may not be the most fashionable of choices – but your feet will thank you after a long day of Park touring

Oh we can totally do three parks in one day easy! Technically this one is possible – and not *that* hard to do, as Park Hopping can be fun and relatively easy, but let’s be realistic here – if you’ve never been to Disney World, you will want to experience all that each Park has to offer – and you don’t want to wear yourself out by trying to do multiple parks daily

We don’t need to go back to the hotel for a nap – Yes, you do. Trust me – whether you’re all adults or have a few young kids – you will need a break mid day. I like to head back to my WDW Resort after lunch and take a nap or go for a swim or just relax in a pool lounger before I head back our around dinner time – when the sun has gone down some and so has the temperature

It won’t rain – it’s Florida! Just because a place is known to be sunny and hot doesn’t mean it can’t rain – it can and likely will during your WDW trip – so plan ahead by packing your own ponchos, and some Ziploc baggies of assorted sizes to keep your valuables dry (phone, camera, etc)

Avoid Disney Meltdowns with these simple tips – they are easy to follow and will make your vacation feel more – well – vacation like!
