T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My Top Disney Souvenir Picks

I don’t know about you, but I personally am a big fan of souvenir shopping. I love checking out what different shops have to offer, and then picking out the perfect item(s) to memorialize my trip with! Disney World has got to be one of the best places ever to shop for souvenirs – they have tons of shops that offer plenty of unique items for you to choose from. Over the years, I have developed a list of items that are the Perfect Disney Souvenirs:

photos CastleNight

Number one souvenir that I strive to get as many of as possible while at Disney is PHOTOS – what better way to remember your trip than with a ton of great pictures? Personally my faves are ones taken in front of the castle, or with characters – and I love displaying them once I get home, too – in frames and albums mostly, but there are plenty of unique ways to display Disney trip photos

Mugs PrincessMug

I LOVE mugs (and personally think that a Disney Mug makes coffee taste better) – so I always try and find a funky new one to bring home with me from each trip.
**Side note for those who don’t use mugs – there are tons of great water bottles/drinkware available at the Parks too!

Pins Muppets

Ok, so – I know what you’re thinking – “ugh pins – I don’t collect those, that’s a stupid souvenir” – and I used to think that too! I started collecting a few years ago when I spotted an adorable Fozzy Bear wearing mickey ears pin on someones backpack – and of course that only came in a set with 7 other Muppet character pins – and so it began. I want to point out though – I am not really that into “pin trading” or getting the newest “limited edition” pins – I tend to just collect ones with a meaning/memory attached to them – like my Main Street Trolley pin that I bought after we had the chance to be the first people to ride it one morning. So, knock it if you want – but there are some pretty cool pins out there!

What About You – What are your “go to” Disney souvenirs?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Unique Pin Displays That Anyone Can DIY!

    pinlanyard
Disney Pin Trading is a HUGE thing at The Disney Parks and has been for quite a while now. I resisted it for a long time but I finally gave in a few years ago – and I like to think I keep it at a manageable level – I only buy a couple of pins when I go to Disney, and I like to buy ones that actually mean something to me, that spark a great memory when I look back at them.
Pin-Shadow-Box
Speaking of looking back at my pins – I made this awesome Pin Display Case a few years ago so that I can always look back on my favorites that I keep in there. Since then, Pin displays have definitely become “a thing” – and there are plenty of ways to make your own unique version:
Pin display 1
Grab a sheet of corkboard and a cutout of Cinderella’s Castle and boom you have an awesome silhouette display case
Pin disp 2
Create a Mickey head out of foamboard, and use a unique background – like Disney scrapbook paper, or – what a great use for all those Park Maps you end up coming home with, right?
Pin disp 3
Foamboard or cork can be cut to fit any frame – so pick something that matches your style or existing décor to display those pins proudly!

Pin disp 5
Cork letters like these can be purchased at your local craft store, and I saw them at Target recently too

And there’s always this style for displaying them when you head to Disney World…ok just kidding, but seriously, there are so many lanyards to choose from, or you can display them on a hat, backpack, or purse strap too

If you’re not into Disney Pin Trading yet – what are you waiting for? Check out the basics here and then start collecting and trading the next time you’re at the Disney Parks!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Bringing Home The Magic

One of my favorite parts about a Walt Disney World vacation? The SOUVENIRS!!!! There are tons of great ones to pick from at the Parks, and here are some of my personal favorites:

TGIF Souv Shot Shot Glasses – they have all kinds – I love these adorable Christmas ones!

TGIF Souv CardsPlaying Cards

TGIF Souv FrameThese small magnetic picture frames are perfect for your office or the fridge

Souvenirs to skip – wine glasses, large stuffed animals, kitchen/bakeware – mostly we try to avoid anything large or breakable as a rule of thumb

Many items can be purchased online if you forget to pick them up while at the Parks

All this stuff is great, but my personal favorite souvenir would have to be the pictures we take while on vacation – they are always fun to look at and make prints of for framing or albums, and its’a great reminder of just how fun Walt Disney World is!

The Addiction of Disney Pin Trading

A few weeks ago I was lucky enough to spend a whole week in Walt Disney World, and prior to that trip I was doing a lot of research. Most of it was on restaurants and rides/attractions at the Parks etc, but one other thing I was doing some reading about was Disney Pin Trading

I talked about it recently in this post, and I had been considering if it was something I wanted to get into or not

Well….let’s just say….once I got to WDW, I got the pin trading bug

There’s me with my new pin collection, and it all started when I saw someone had a Fozzy Bear pin and he was wearing Mickey Ears – Fozzy in Mickey Ears, how cute is that?? I had to have one, and so began the search. As it turns out, that pin comes only in a set of 7 pins, featuring various Muppets in Mickey Ears….so….I bit the bullet and purchased the set (at a crazy sounding $29.95!), and then magically I had 7 pins already to start my collection!

Then I even did a pin trade with a Cast Member for a really cool Alice In Wonderland pin, and from there, it just went on….a pin here, a pin there, finally I broke down and bought a lanyard too….and now I am home from my trip and I have hung my lanyard proudly in my office, and you would think that would be the end of it (at least until my next Disney trip). NOPE! As it turns out, you can order an assortment of pins online (check them out Here), so I have already ordered a few new ones to add to my collection

I think the main reason I like Pin collecting/trading is because it is so customizable, there are HUNDREDS of pin choices available in the parks, not to mention the trading aspect, which opens up even more (and rare/unique!) options

Another great thing about it is you can capture memories with it. For example, my family and I had the chance to ride the Main Street Trolley on our trip (something we don’t often get to do), so that day I bought a Min Street Trolley pin to commemorate the experience, and now every time I see that pin I will remember that horse drawn trolley ride down an almost empty Main Street USA.

I always told myself I would never get into Pin collecting/trading, that it was silly, but I am definitely starting to see the appeal, it’s something interesting and fun for those of all ages!
