T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Happy Birthday To Me!

This week I celebrated my 33rd birthday – and I think most adults would agree with me that as you get older, birthdays aren’t as much about gifts or how many people say “Happy Birthday” or show up to celebrate you (although all those things are nice!) – it’s really about memories, and just getting a chance to enjoy life with the ones you love!

I didn’t have a “Birthday Party” this year (as 33 isn’t exactly a milestone year, ha) but we did have some people over for a bit of pool fun this weekend, and even though I know I just said birthdays aren’t as much about gifts, I did get a few that really thrilled me:

33bday2

Meet “Swanda”

My husband and I were lucky enough to move into a bigger house this spring – and even LUCKIER that the house came with a POOL! We have all LOVED spending time splashing around, and truth be told – I have been dreaming about one of these since we moved in (because what pool is complete without an INSANELY HUGE inflatable swan?) Oh – and even though my husband said “it will take up half the pool” – FYI – it only takes up like a quarter. So there.

I also received this – 846 pages of ALL THINGS WALT DISNEY WORLD. I seriously cannot wait to read this cover to cover in preparation for our Disney World trip next year!

33Bday1

Seriously though – aside from the gifts, I know that Birthdays these days are all about being grateful for everything I have in my life – and I gotta say, I feel pretty blessed right now – as I am turning 33, I look forward to the year ahead and spending time with my family – and watching this little superhero get even bigger and grow and learn even more! Oh – and obviously I can’t wait to spend even more quality time with Spider Dog too – even if he does currently hate me for making him pose in that cape

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Feeling The Disney Birthday Love

IMG_20160815_200535

I celebrated my birthday this week with friends, family, and of course FOOD – my mother in law made me dinner, and a homemade cookie cake (confession – I actually had two cookie cakes, and they were both delicious. I regret nothing). I had a great day – and felt so loved! Was especially feeling the DISNEY love with these amazing gifts:

I had been wanting my husband to craft me some kind of coffee mug display for a while now (I have a LOT of mugs – and a lot of them are Disney Mugs– because why not enjoy your morning coffee with a side of Disney?), and he was able to put this together for me – not only is it totally functional, but if you look closely you will see that he drew in tiny Disney characters on the heads of the hooks – how creative is he?

My husband and my BFF collaborated on this year’s gift giving, and she made me this amazing sign to go above the coffee mug display – it combines two of my loves – Disney and caffeine. Genius work on her part

Then I got myself a super cute new Mickey and Minnie Alex and Ani bracelet…yep, I bought it for myself and nope I don’t even care that that’s kind of weird – just look at how pretty!

I am so touched to have family and friends who care about me enough to make me Disney gifts – and all in all, it was a great birthday,

and I can’t wait to see what the year ahead brings!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Top (Adult) Disney Birthday Gifts

DSC00620
Disney isn’t just for kids, people. I have said it a million times, and I will say it a million times more – ADULTS CAN LOVE DISNEY WORLD TOO! There’s so much for everyone to love about all things Disney – and that includes at birthday time, too! There are Disney gifts out there for those of ALL ages, and I know there’s a few Disney items I am hoping to receive for my birthday this year, too! Check out my top Disney birthday gift picks for adults:

What woman wouldn’t want a Disney themed purse for their birthday? Disney has partnered with famous designers like Vera Bradley and Dooney & Bourke to create unique handbags that feature an assortment of Disney characters, themes, and events

A haunted mansion themed mug makes even Monday mornings more bearable. Oh – and it even says “Hurry Back” on the inside *swoon* – check out Disney Drinkware Here

Not only will this Disney luggage cheer you up while you deal with the monotony/annoyances of air travel, but it’s also super easy to spot as it comes out of baggage claim

Brighten up their office with some Disney

Ok truth be told – this post was slightly inspired by the fact that MY birthday is coming up – and I would love to receive any of these awesome gifts! As for this bracelet…I might have already ordered this for myself as an “early birthday present”…I couldn’t help it, it’s just the cutest, and will go with my other Disney Alex And Ani perfectly. What can I say – sometimes you just gotta treat yourself, am I right?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Happy Birthday To My Baby Boy!

It’s a bit hard to believe that a year has already passed, and that this tiny little guy…

…Has turned into this big man!

He turned 1 yesterday, and we are celebrating his first birthday tomorrow – I can’t wait to see everyone come together for this milestone! There will be pizza, cake, and presents – but most of all, there will be CELEBRATING! We survived! My husband and I managed to successfully keep the baby alive, not kill each other, and have a TON of fun along the way…

From tons of playtime (including peek a boo!)

2.13 cooking

to helping Mommy cook…

To getting to meet the Easter Bunny,

Outside

And enjoying plenty of outdoor playtime!

I realize that this post isn’t really Disney related – but I love my kid more than I love Disney (it’s true!) – so I figured why not dedicate a post to how excited I am about his turning 1?

Oh – and if have a baby in your life who’s turning 1 soon, then you should check out my list of gift ideas!

Disney Themed First Birthday Gift Ideas

    20150808_092250

My little guy is already 10 months old – which is really hard to believe because it seems literally like just yesterday that I was having my Disney baby shower and preparing for his arrival! He babbles and feeds himself (sort of) and crawls and gets into anything and everything – and it’s been an amazing journey so far!

I’ve already begun preparations for his first birthday party – which I am trying to keep low key (not an easy feat in the days of pinterest and over the top kids parties!). It will be at a local park lodge, and we will have pizza and cupcakes, and I opted for an easy zoo animals theme with fun blow up zoo animal beach balls and baggies of animal crackers as “favors”. Even though I know he will receive a TON of gifts, I still want my husband and I to get him something, and I was trying to think what he might like, and I was of course thinking about how I could start that love for Disney at an early age too….

So here’s what I came up with for possible Disney gift ideas for a 1 year old:

1bday 1

This 4 in 1 Mickey Mouse Ride On can be used as a walker/rocker, and transitions with them as they grow older. It features their favorite Disney characters, and even lights up and Mickey talks and plays music too!

1bday 2

John has this Disney Wooden Train and he loves it – and by loves it I mean “loves eating the pieces” – but I am sure once he gets older he will enjoy actually putting it together

1bday 3

Stuffed animals are great for kids of any age – and I love this Disney My First Duffy Bear – he’s nice and soft and the perfect bedtime cuddle buddy in his adorable pajamas

1bday 4

Playsets like this Disney little people Mickey and Minnie’s house Little People set are great for their imagination and role playing skills – which admittedly at 1 they don’t have much of, but for now they can play with the houses and little people and enjoy the colors and textures

A note about suggested ages: I always read the suggested age range on a toy before I buy it, but I don’t always follow it – if a toy says ages 2 and up but it doesn’t have any small or sharp pieces, chances are pretty good I will let my little guy play with it. However – that’s totally up to you as a parent or gift giver, so feel free to do whatever you feel is best!

I can’t wait to celebrate my boy turning 1 – and I can’t wait to watch him start to really “play” with toys. They may physically grow a LOT their first year, but this upcoming year is going to be a big one for developmental milestones, and I can’t wait to witness each and every one!

What about YOU – what do you like to give as gifts to your favorite tiny Disney fans?
