In The Kitchen – Recreating The Butterfinger Cupcake

I am a HUGE baking fan – I love it so much that I even have a blog dedicated to my baking adventures. I am also a huge fan of Food Network, Top Chef, and basically anything food related – and I know there are a lot of foodies out there like me who love recreating dishes from their favorite resturants at home.

And since Disney has some of the best food in the world, it’s only natural that there are people out there trying to recreate those amazing tastes at home!

Butterfinger

One of my personal faves? The Butterfinger Cupcake at Starring Roles Cafe in Disney’s Hollywood Studios – this thing is EPIC – a moist chocolate cake with a gooey fudge center, vanilla frosting, a chocolate shell, and butterfinger pieces – who wouldn’t to make these at home?

Sugar high ButterfingerYou want some of that goodness? Here’s the recipe, give it a try!

Ingredients

1 box Devil’s Food Cake mix, plus ingredients to make cake
1 can fudge frosting

4 cups chocolate chips
6 Tbsp canola oil

3 (3.7 oz) King Size Butterfingers

Quick Buttercream Frosting
18 Tbsp butter, softened
6 Tbsp milk
1 Tbsp vanilla
6 3/4 cups powdered sugar

Directions

Prepare cupcakes according to directions on cake mix package. Let cupcakes cool completely.

Using a sharp knife, cut a circle out on top of the cupcake. Make your cut go about halfway into the cupcake. Remove the cake chunk and fill the hole will fudge frosting (I used two spoons to scoop the frosting into the hole). Invert the cupcake chunk on top of the fudge frosting – you want the extra cake to be sticking up.

Prepare the buttercream frosting. Mix together all the ingredients and beat on medium for 3 minutes, until fluffy. Transfer frosting into a piping bag and pipe frosting on top of the cupcakes, covering the cake chunk. Let the frosting set up for 30 minutes.

While the frosting is setting up, crush the Butterfingers in the food processor until completely pulverized. **I froze the Butterfingers and crushed them frozen.**

Combine chocolate chips and oil in a medium microwave-safe bowl. Heat on HIGH for 1 minute. Stir and continue to heat at 30 second intervals until completely melted. Allow to cool for 5-10 minutes before using. (You might want to do this in two batches so the chocolate doesn’t harden while you dip the cupcakes) Dip the frosted cupcakes into the chocolate – I used a spoon to hold the frosting into place to make sure it didn’t fall off the cupcake. Immediately coat the cupcake with the pulverized Butterfingers – just smash it all over the chocolate. Repeat until all cupcakes are dipped and covered. Refrigerate approximately 1 hour to allow the chocolate to set up.

There are plenty of Disney recipes out there, available online or in Disney cookbooks, so check some out and recreate that “Disney Magic” at your dinner table tonight!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Disney DIY

There is so much anticipation and excitement that lead up to a Walt Disney World vacation, and once you are there it’s amazing, and fun, and exhilirating. But once it’s over, there is definitely a bit of a let down, because not only is your vacation over, but you have to leave the Happiest Place On Earth!

So how can you beat the post-Disney blues? By bringing some of the magic of Disney into your own home, of course! There are TONS of Disney DIY projects you can do that are easy, fun, and great ways to remind you of just how special Disney is!

Pin-Shadow-Box For those of you who are into Disney Pin Collecting, here’s a great way to display those pins – here are the step by step instructions on how to create this great Disney Pin display case

MickeyCookiesBake up some Disney fun with a Mickey Cookie cutter and these Chocolate Sugar Cookies – my man made them for me as a surprise, and let me tell you – it doesn’t get more delicious or cute than Mickey shaped cookies!

delicious_disney_coverThere are a few different Disney Cookbooks out there that feature recipes from the various Parks and Restaurants on Disney Property, and it’s a great way to recreate that delicious meal you had on vacation. Personally, I have this Delicious Disney book and love the graphics and recipes

GiantMickeyPumpkinDisney loves the holidays, and so do I! I love them so much I did a recreation of this giant Mickey pumpkin last year for Halloween using one big and two little pumpkins – it was actually really easy, and Mickey’s smiling face might not have been spooky, but it certainly was a great holiday addition

There are plenty of things you can do with your vacation photos too – from collages to decoupage to scrapbooks and albums – picture gifts and crafts are my personal fave, they’re the best way to relive the greatest vacation moments!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Sugar High!

I have spoken many times before of how amazing the FOOD is at Walt Disney World, and one of my favorite things to get here? DESSERT! There are so many options, and every restaurant does something different and unique

Here are just a very few of the items you can expect to find if you’re looking to satisfy your sweet tooth at WDW:
Start your day off with this amazingly gooey Cinnamon Roll, available at the Main Street Bakery in the Magic Kingdom
Head to Starring Roles at Hollywood Studios for one of these hugely delicious Butterfinger Cupcakes (and yes, that IS a fudge center!)
Buffets (like one of my faves – Chef Mickey’s!) usually have a great variety of desserts – I personally like to try one of everything!
You can’t go wrong with a classic – the Mickey Ice Cream Bar
Pick up one of these red velvet whoopie pies at Sunshine Seasons in Epcot
…Not sure if any of these are the right sweet for you? Well then there HAS to be something here that you would like – the Werther’s Caramel store in Epcot’s Germany has SO MANY yummy treats, but I recommend the salted caramels!
I LOVE to bake (and BLOG about my baking adventures too!), but there is something amazing about letting someone else do the baking, while you get to do the eating! Thanks WDW for helping feed my dessert desires!
