T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – In Honor Of Christmas (Part II)

Last week I wrote about how lucky I am to have traveled to WDW TWICE at Christmastime – and I shared some of my favorite memories from those trips with you. Since today is Christmas Day – I thought it would be fun to share some pictures from our Christmas day in Disney World:

This giant Gingerbread tree looked good enough to eat (thankfully it was blocked off or else I might have tried to take a nibble…)

Mickey shaped snacks are the best ones, aren’t they?

Getting ready to light the Osbourne Lights!

It’s sad this is the last year for the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights – I am SO GLAD we got to see them be lit on Christmas Day – it was the best experience of the whole trip by far!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – My All Time Favorite Trip Pics

I love taking a look back at photos from my trips to Disney – each one holds a special memory – and I love remembering the great times I’ve had there! There are some photos that stand out for me, ones that I always come back to and that make me smile no matter what…

MainStreetCastle

This was one of the first photos taken on our honeymoon – I hadn’t been to Disney in 8 years, and I was so excited to finally be back and standing in my favorite spot – at the base of Main Street, in front of the Castle – with the World at my feet (the DISNEY world that is!)

TGIF Characters

While we were on our honeymoon, we dined at Chef Mickey’s – and when Minnie came to greet us, she made a big fuss over my rings and our new marriage, it was so cute!

IceCream

I FINALLY got to try the Gold Rush peanut butter sundae at Ghiradelli in Downtown Disney a few years ago – it was SO GOOD! Sadly, the location is now closed, but I still have the memory of how yummy it was!

There are few things better than waking up on Christmas morning at Walt Disney World – which I was lucky enough to do two years ago! We had breakfast at 1900 Park Fare and enjoyed the amazing buffet and characters – here we are posing in front of the gorgeous tree in the lobby of the Grand Floridian!

Spending Christmas in Disney was amazing – and the most amazing thing of all that we did that week was getting to watch the Osbourne Spectacle of Lights be lit at Disney’s Hollywood Studios – they do a little ceremony where Goofy dressed as Santa comes and flips a giant switch and suddenly there’s lights, music, and even snow!

What about you – what are YOUR favorite Disney moments?

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – 5 Years Of Laughter & Love

Today my husband and I are celebrating our 5 year wedding anniversary! It’s hard to believe it’s been 5 years already – the time seems like it has flown by! Today I want to reminisce a little about the time I’ve spent as half of a married couple – and of course by reminisce I mean check out some of our Disney memories!

We spend our honeymoon in Walt Disney World – June is a hot, sticky, wet month in Orlando – but we still managed to have a lot of fun! It was the first time I had been back to Disney since I was a teenager – and it was my first time as an adult (without my parents!) and I loved being able to explore and re-visit things as an adult, and a new wife too!

AKL XMAS TREE

Disney World in December is amazing – we went mid-month, and also went to Mickey’s Very Merry Christmas Party – which was a ton of fun. The weather was nice and mild, and getting to see all the amazing Christmas décor everywhere put us in the Christmas spirit for sure!

IceCream

Ice cream on a hot afternoon at Disney? Yes, please. And thank you. And I will even share (because that’s how much I love him!)

Everyone enjoys meeting characters – and this was an especially awesome day – Christmas morning at 1900 Park Fare – amazing food, and awesome characters – and a great time making memories with my husband too!

It’s been 5 years of laughs, fights, hugs, tears, kisses, buying a house, getting a dog, having a kid – and I personally wouldn’t trade a minute of it for anything!

Here’s to a million more memories

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Characters Delight Those Of All Ages at 1900 Park Fare

I woke up this morning and the first thing I thought was “I wish I was having breakfast at Disney!” – and if I could pick anywhere I think it would be the character breakfast at 1900 Park Fare at Disney’s beautiful Grand Floridian Resort

The food is great there – they offer a buffet of delicious eats like Mickey waffles, fresh fruit, ham/bacon/sausage, and their signature chilled strawberry soup! But for me, the characters are the main attraction here, and on Christmas day it was definitely a random assortment of characters –Pooh and Tigger, Mary Poppins, Alice, and the Mad Hatter all made their rounds and posed for pictures, autographs, and hugs!

We also stopped after our meal and had our picture taken by the Resort’s beautiful Christmas tree. What a great way to spend Christmas morning (or any day for that matter!)

Getting Close To The 180 Day Mark – Time To Plan out Those ADR’s!

DSCN0397

Our Walt Disney World Family Christmas Adventure may still be over 7 months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t start planning – especially since our ADR day is only a month away!

First you may wonder – what the heck is an ADR day? It’s that magical day that occurs 180 days before your WDW arrival, where you can either go online and call the fine folks at Disney Dining and make your trip dining selections!

You also might not be entirely sure what an ADR is – it stands for Advance Dining Reservation, and how it works is you select a time to eat at your fave Disney restaurants, and when you arrive at that time, your name will be first called once a table becomes available for your party

Ok, so now that we are all clear on what makes this 180 day mark so special, we can get down to business! For us, a party of 4 adults, we want to make sure we are picking a variety of places – family friendly character meals as well as places that offer new and exciting cuisine, and also places that might be a little more “adult” friendly (aka – have a good wine selection!). Also, since we will be there on Christmas, we want to at least try and have some kind of familiar “holiday” meal, similar to what we would have at home.

So we sat down, talked it out, and utilized some menus to decide what we really wanted to experience when it came to our WDW dining experience

Our Final Choices?

-Via Napoli for Lunch – wood fired pizzas, wine and other Italian treats over in Epcot’s World Showcase

-Raglan Road for Dinner – This has turned into a “must do” – the atmosphere, entertainment, beer selection, and amazing Irish eats have been amazing every time, without fail

-1900 Park Fare for Breakfast – This is a “new” one for us (“new” meaning we haven’t been in about 20 years so none of us remember it!) – we are excited to spend time with the Alice In Wonderland characters and sample some delicious breakfast buffet items over at WDW’s beautiful Grand Floridian Resort

-Liberty Tree Tavern for Christmas Eve Dinner – Turkey and all the fixin’s are a perfect choice for a family holiday meal – and the rustic old American theming of the restaurant located in the Magic Kingdom’s Liberty Square is a great place to feel happy and at home!

-Boma for Dinner – This has also become a “must do” for our family – at first I must admit I was hesitant to bring my family here, unsure of how they would react to the authentic African cuisine – but they LOVED it – and we will definitely be back for more unique salads, hummus, and bobotie (my personal fave – an egg based beef and lamb dish that is to die for!)

-Crystal Palace for Breakfast – This has been a “must do” for over 20 years for my family – the delicious food and amazing characters make it the perfect way to start a day at the Magic Kingdom. Pose with Pooh, Tigger, Eeyore and Piglet as you sample Poohs Breakfast Lasagna, Mickey Waffles, and much much more (bottom line – you won’t leave hungry!)

-Ohana for Dinner – Another “new” addition to our dining agenda, I have been wanting to try this one for a while (pretty much since I heard that they serve warm banana bread pudding for dessert!). This all you care to eat family style restaurant at WDW’s Polynesian Resort serves up Asian inspired meats, veggies, and rice in a relaxed, tropical setting

Now all I need to do is wait a month to make the ADR’s….then just another 6 months until I am back at my favorite place!

What do you think – Do you have any places you have to eat at/want to eat at/want to try while vacationing at WDW?
