T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Storybook Circus Brings Even More Magic And Fun To WDW

Walt Disney World is always improving, changing, and updating to help create a better experience for their guests. Currently one of their big projects is an expansion (aka complete overhaul) to Fantasyland in the Magic Kingdom. The area that was formerly Mickey’s Toon Town (which will no longer exist, sadly) is roped off and being constructed into a huge new Fantasyland complete with a new castle (the Beast’s Castle from Beauty and the Beast!).

The project is still under construction, but last week part of the area had a ‘soft opening’ (which basically means they open and close the area whenever they want to in order to experiement with traffic patterns and other operational issues involving the new attractions). The areas that were being tested during this time are the new flying Dumbo ride, and The Great Goofini (a kid friendly roller coaster that is the only thing from Mickey’s Toontown that wasn’t removed).

When will the project be fully done? Sometime later this year or early in 2013 is the latest rumor. Disney’s official information on the Fantasyland expansion can be found Here

Fantasyland may not be the most sophisticated place, and it may not be targeted specifically at adults, but it’s always been a place I have loved, it’s a place of magic and fun for those of all ages, and I personally can’t wait to see the finished product!

TGIF!
