Walt Disney World likes to do everything they can to make guests feel special, and there newest room makeovers are no exception. On March 9, 2012, WDW debuted 512 “Royal Guest Rooms” full of royal touches and magical surprises at their Port Orleans Riverside Resort.
The backstory of the rooms (and yes of course there is a backstory, this IS Disney we are talking about, and they are nothing if not detail-oriented!) is that Princess Tiana of “The Princess and The Frog” has invited some of her Royal friends (including Belle and Jasmine!) along for a vacation getaway! The rooms include ornately detailed beds that have fiber optic headboards, and dark, plush interiors. Check out a Gallery Of Pictures of the new Royal Rooms, I especially love all the detaling in the artwork and the beds, it really makes the rooms “fit for a king!”
From an adult point of view, Port Orleans Riverside would be a great place to stay, it has a kind of slower, more relaxed atmosphere than a lot of the other resorts, and it’s a great place to unwind after a long day at the WDW Parks. You can take a romantic stroll on the walking/jogging trail, rent a bike or surrey, go fishing, or go on a horse drawn carriage ride, all without leaving the Resort!
Port Orleans Riverside also has it’s own Table Service Restaurant, Boatwright’s Dining Hall, where you can grab a delicious dinner of Jambalaya, Prime Rib, or one of their many other yummy options, and then you can head on over to the River Roost Lounge and Bar for some adult beverages and nighttime entertainment. Port Orleans “Ye Haa” Bob Jackson has been putting on a piano sing along comedy show every Wednesday-Saturday since 1997, and he is a lot of fun to watch, he will make you laugh for sure!
If you are trying to decide what resort to stay at on your Walt Disney World vacation, I suggest you take a serious look at Port Orleans Riverside – the ameneties they offer coupled with the new “Royal Rooms” make it a real gem, and someplace worth checking out for sure!
