When people learn that there is no alcohol served in Walt Disney World’s Magic Kingdom, their reaction isn’t always one of joy. They assume that the whole resort is like that, and it definitely gives a false impression of the kind of vacation you can have at WDW. To be clear – the Magic Kingdrom Park is the ONLY place where you can’t get alcohol at the Walt Disney World Resort – most other restaurants and all the Resorts serve it, so if your favorite way to spend your vacation is with a bright umbrella drink in your hand, fear not, WDW has you covered!
Here are my top three picks for where to grab an adult beverage at Walt Disney World:
-California Grill – Location, Location, Location! A quick monorail ride away from the Magic Kingdom is the Contemporary Resort, and if you take the elevator up to the 14th floor you will find this restaurant with a bar/lounge area (the restaurant requires a reservation, the bar does not, but it IS first come first serve and can get crowded at/after dinner, so keep this in mind!). Choose a wine from their LARGE selection and relax as you check out the view from the top – if you are lucky and can get there at the time of the Magic Kingdom fireworks show, then you are in for an amazing show!
-Raglan Road Irish Pub – Beer Lovers rejoice! This irish pub located in Downtown Disney has a full bar, and extensive wine and beer list, plus they serve up amazing traditional irish food. On the weekends enjoy live Irish music and dancers, and grab dinner while you’re there – and be sure to try the Bread Pudding Dessert – you will be glad that you did (trust me!)
–Victoria Falls Lounge – Located at Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Jambo House, this spot serves up a wide variety of specialty drinks (think tropical, rustic, and delicious!). Its a great place to grab a late afternoon drink and watch the animals roam the open space right outside the Resort! The Resort itself is also beautiful, with a grand lobby, dark interior furnishings, and one of the best gift shops I have seen, with unique gifts not found elsewhere at WDW. Plus, the Lodge is home to Boma – by far one of the best meals I have ever had (a buffet full of African cuisine that smells, looks, and tastes amazing!) This bar and Animal Kingdom Lodge should definitely be on your list of must-do’s (I love it there so much I am considering staying there on my next trip!)
Don’t want to travel to one of the above places after a long day at the Parks? All Walt Disney World Resort Hotels have at least one bar, with a wide selection of beverages to choose from. And bonus – many of them are poolside, so at night when it’s cooler and quieter, you can grab a cold one and lounge by the pool!
