Signature Meals – Are They Worth It?

So you’re planning a trip to Walt Disney World to celebrate a special occasion in your life, maybe a birthday or wedding or engagement or anniversary or promotion or any of a million other reasons (personally, my favorite reason to celebrate is the fact that I am going to Walt Disney World, the Happiest Place on Earth! But…thats just me!). Whatever the occasion, chances are pretty good that you will want to have a special, fancy dinner in WDW to celebrate, and that is where Disney’s Signature Restaurants come in.

At Walt Disney World, a restaurant in the “Signature” category is one that is generally nicer, with better food and higher prices than other sit down restaurants. Some of them have amazing food and a great atmosphere, but some just aren’t worth the extra price.

Ones that I recommend?

California Grill – The views from the 15th floor of Disney’s Contemporary Resort are spectacular – you can see all of the Magic Kingdom (including a great view of the nightly fireworks!) while you sip on signature cocktails and dine on fresh sushi and flatbread pizzas

The Hollywood Brown Derby – located in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, it’s themed after the original Brown Derby restaurant in Hollywood. Must try’s here are the Cobb Salad, and the Grapefruit cake – yum!

Yachtsman Steakhouse – Take a trip to Disney’s beautiful Yacht Club Resort for some amazing steak – the food is great, the resort is beautiful, and they really do make a perfect steak!

If you’re on the Disney Dining Plan, a meal at any Signature Restaurant will cost you 2 Table Service Credits per person (aka 1 meal for the price of 2), which may turn some people off, but if it’s a special occasion or a restaurant you have been dying to try, I say go for it, and it will be well worth the extra money or dining plan credit
