Offerings in Orlando are endless…

Orlando, and Florida in general, have so much to offer outside of the Walt Disney World walls, that even if you can’t find something to do in the park, amusement is never far away…

Theme Parks: If Disney doesn’t float your boat, Sea World and Universal Orlando are both within half an hour of WDW, and if you’re an animal lover or a thrill seeker, you will definitely want to check them out

Beaches: Daytona Beach and New Smyrna Beach are both less than 2 hours from WDW, and both are great places to relax, sunbathe, and enjoy the ocean waves

Shopping: Whether you are into malls, outlets, or boutiques, Orlando has it all, for every style and budget

Dining: Looking for some of the best 4 and 5 star restaurants in Florida? Orlando has them. I know I talk a lot about how amazing the food in Disney is, but there are many amazing restaurants outside of WDW too.

Hotels: If you want to see Disney but aren’t willing to make the commitment of staying on property, there are plenty of nearby hotels, many which offer family suites with kitchens and many others that offer incredible values that you won’t find within WDW

Arts/Culture/History: The Kennedy Space Center is approximately 1.5 hours from Disney (and is a personal favorite of mine!), but there are many museums, galleries, and places to soak up musical and theatrical culture in Orlando area

Nightlife: Dinner theaters, comedy clubs, bars, restaurants, dance clubs…you name it, Orlando has it

The moral of this post is that I recognize that Disney is a lot to handle, and it can be intense to spend an *entire* vacation there from start to finish. And I also realize that Disney is not the *only* thing worth seeing in Florida. If any of the above sounds like it might suit your tastes, there is a lot of great information at, or you can always visit your local AAA or bookstore and pickup a Florida guidebook.

I have done a lot of the things I mentioned above when I was younger, and I enjoyed them all, and like Disney, I can’t wait to experience them again as an adult.
