Magic Kingdom, Hollywood Studios, Epcot, and Animal Kingdom…these are the 4 Theme Parks that WDW has to offer. They are amazing, fun, beautiful, enthralling….but they can also be crowded, tiring, hot, and lead to meltdowns (even from the adults in the group!), and at the end of the day, not everyone is a “theme park” person.
Luckily, WDW has MANY other things to offer….below is a list of things you can experience at Walt Disney World outside of the parks…this list is by NO MEANS comprehensive (aka, there is a LOT MORE out there besides what I am listing here…if you want to know more, you can always visit the Beyond the Parks section of allears.net, or the official Disney website (Under the “Things To Do” Tab)
Golf: 5 golf courses to choose from, with options for lessons and rentals at all locations
Biking: Bikes are available for rental at Disney’s Fort Wilderness, and the scenery is not to be missed-gorgeous woods and trails galore
Fishing: Not many people think of fishing when they hear “Walt Disney World”, but it is actually a lot of fun…a master fisherman takes you out early in the morning and you catch and release fish with live bait…we did it a few times when I was younger and it was a lot of fun (mostly because everyone catches a lot of fish ha!)
Horseback Riding: Done at Fort Wilderness, the trails are a great place to take a slow stroll on a majestic horse…don’t worry if you have never ridden before, the cast members will teach you how in no time.
Watersports– Including Boating/Jetskiing/Parasailing/Waterskiing/Tubing…I know I did a post on the watersporting options available at WDW already, but its worth mentioning again…waterskiing sounds a lot more fun than standing in a 90 minute line behind a crying baby in 94 degree heat, doesn’t it?
Spas: Feeling the need for a little pampering? Disney’s 2 full service spas offer pedicures, manicures, massages, aromatherapy, and I have heard there are *no* children to be seen/heard in these spas…
Race Car Driving: That’s right, the Richard Petty Driving Experience, which has a location within WDW, gives you the chance to either ride along or actually drive a Nascar vehicle.
ESPN Wide World of Sports: Host to many professional and semi professional sporting events throughout the year, this complex also has a Grill/Bar with many large flat screen TV’s broadcasting any and all major sporting events happening at any given time.
Downtown Disney : go see a movie, groove to some live music, shop til you drop, grab something to eat, and even experience an exclusive to WDW cirque de soleil show here.
I know I have talked about some of the above in previous posts, I just can’t mention enough how many different experiences are available at WDW. There really is something for every adult, no matter what your interests are.
