Trying Out Disney’s New Magic Band System

Magic Bands

The Family That Magic Bands Together Stays Together

I have to admit – I wasn’t sure about using Disney’s new Magic Bands system at first – I was sure it would be hard to setup, and confusing to use once we got to Disney World – but I was actually pleasantly surprised with how much I enjoyed them!

A few months before the trip, I went online to the My Disney Experience website and setup all 4 of us (myself and my husband, and then I linked my parents reservation too) with profiles, and I have to say – this was probably the worst part of the process. The My Disney Experience Website was not the most user friendly – it was slow, often the pages “couldn’t be found” or the “server was busy”, but once I was finally able to set all 4 of us up with profiles on the site, we were able to customize our Magic Bands, and they were shipped to us about a month before our trip

I was also able to setup our Fastpass+ through the website, and I would say the only drawback to this was that you can only have 3 fastpasses per person per day, and they can’t be at 2 different parks – which to me is a bit limiting, but I understand that they can’t let everyone go nuts and have as many as they want. However, I hope they look at this limitation in the future and come up with some kind of alternative – anything is possible!

Once we were at the Resort, I was able to use the My Disney Experience app on my iphone to check dining reservation and Fastpass times, and change them if need be – which was nice. The app was pretty slow too and didn’t always want to work correctly, but I am guessing those kinks will be worked out soon, since the Magic Band system will be rolled out all over the World very soon (while we were there, the Magic Bands were only being tested by select Resorts).

We were able to use the Bands to pay at Restaurants, shops, snack carts, and they were our fastpass and park admission tickets as well. I am glad we were able to test out the Magic Bands system, and can’t wait what new technology Disney comes up with next!

Breaking WDW News: Magic Bands Rollout Delayed

MagicBands

Some Disney News for you all: Disney had been planning to fully roll out its new Magic Band program to all WDW Resorts this year – but it looks like this has changed, and has been delayed. It will likely be several months before the program is fully operative for all guests, according to Disney sources.

The Magic Band program is essentially an RFID bracelet that acts as your Resort room key and room charge account, and it also stores your reservation, Fastpass, and Disney ticket information for a more seamless guest experience. It sounds like a great idea, and I know it has been several years in the making for Disney, as a LOT of work and updates are needed to make this functional

Personally, I hope this doesn’t affect my chance to try out the Magic Bands – I already picked out the color (PINK!) and the My Disney Experience website asked me for my shipping address – so I will keep my fingers crossed that mine will arrive soon and I can have the chance to participate in the testing process for this new system

Check out more info here, and stay tuned – I will post more info as it becomes available!

“My Disney Experience” Makes WDW Planning Easy And Fun!

I am a planner. It’s in my blood. I can’t help it. I like to be organized, and to have itineraries and lists and all that jazz – especially when it comes to vacations. And now – thanks to the “My Disney Experience” app and website – planning for Walt Disney World trips has gotten much easier – and more fun!

The website allows you to create a profile (complete with a Disney Character pic to complement your personality!) and once you are setup, you can link your Resort reservations, as well as Dining ADR’s, and you can even add which fireworks shows and parades you want to see, as well as fastpass+ reservations

I have been playing around with it for about a week now, and It’s pretty cool – It pulls up a calendar style list of your daily dining/faspasses/shows, and you can add other people to it or share plans with other Disney fans

I also have the app on my iphone – and it is also easy to use, and the information I save on the online website easily transfers to the app and is immediately available for viewing

I suggest you check it out – it can help you organize your trip, plus it is something you can do to get excited about the fact that you’re DISNEY BOUND!

My Magic+ Lets You Plan Your Days At Disney World

Disney is always coming up with new ways to better their Guest’s experience, and their latest invention is the MyMagic+ system, which will allow Guests to pre-plan not only their meals, but also their times for various shows and multiple attractions at once, before they even get to the Parks!

This will work with the Fastpass+ system, as well as integrate with the My Disney Experience App, and all of this comes together to help you plan in advance, as well as easily change your Park plans once you arrive at Disney World

MyMagic+ comes in the form of an RFID bracelet that acts as your Disney Resort room key, room charge, and also holds your dining plan and Fastpass information

MyMagic+ hasn’t officially been rolled out, but it’s currently in the testing stages and it’s rumored that within a few months Resort Guests as well as Annual Passholders will get the chance to try it out! Read more about it on the Disney Parks Blog

So what do you think – is this a good idea that will enrich your WDW experience and allow you to use your super planning skills to their max? Or is this a system that may kill the spontenaity that comes with the vacation territory? Personally, I am on the fence, but am more than willing to give it a try!
