T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Inside The “Fantasy”

I just got back from a cruise – and it was an amazing time! My husband and I sailed to Key West FL and Cozumel Mexico and got to snorkel, shop, and enjoy the sun and warm weather.

Our vacation was not a Disney Cruise, but it DID get me to thinking – if I love cruises and Disney so much, why haven’t I combined those two and seriously considered booking a Disney Cruise for us?

So, I did some research on Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Fantasy, and here is what I found:

  Fantasy Ship
It’s breathtaking, even from the outside!

Fantasy Atrium

A beautiful grand atrium where you are greeted by none other than Minnie herself

Fantasy Room

Nautical themed staterooms with that touch of “Mouse” décor

Fantasy Bar

Lots of dining and entertainment options, both for families with kids and adults too

Fantasy Pool

A huge pool complete with Mickey design and a water slide

Disney Cruises can take you to places like Alaska, the Caribbean, the Bahamas, Europe and more! Check it out here to see where they can take you

There are few things better than sipping a fruity drink while sunbathing on the deck of a cruise ship – if you haven’t experienced this, I suggest you get on it, pronto!

Disney DIY – Alice In Wonderland Frame Collage

Recently I talked about some pretty sweet Disney DIY projects, and those got me thinking, how else can I bring Disney into my home?

Alice Live Alice Animated

I have always been a huge Alice In Wonderland fan – both the Tim Burton version and the classic animated version, and there are some especially good quotes from that movie that have always stuck with me, so I decided to have myself a little craft project….

FrameCollage 005

We don’t have a ‘headboard’ for our bed, so these sconces have always served as a nice little decoration for the wall above the bed, but it was definitely time for a change…

FrameCollage 003

FrameCollage 001

Enter, the quote collage – There are tons of artsy prints of Alice In Wonderland quotes that can be purchased via sites like Etsy, but I thought – why not just make my own?

So I printed out a bunch of my favorite Alice quotes, and my husband and I went about getting them into the frames

Once we had them all framed, it was time to say goodbye to the sconces and get the quotes hung up!

My personal favorite quote? “We’re All Mad Here” - I may even get it tattooed on me at some point – because let’s face it, it’s the truth, isnt it?

It was really a pretty cheap and easy project to do, the frames were around $20 at Target (they come in packs of 3 or 4), and the printing was free as I did it at home, and the best thing about it is there is no right or wrong way to do it, the quotes don’t have to be perfectly centered and the frames don’t have to be hung in a straight row, it’s really just whatever you feel looks good

This idea can be done TONS of ways, with other Disney movies, or famous Walt Disney quotes, it can be tailored to adults or kids (like princess pictures and quotes for a little girls room!), You could even use all different frames to give it a more eclectic look – the possibilities are really endless!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – Disney DIY

There is so much anticipation and excitement that lead up to a Walt Disney World vacation, and once you are there it’s amazing, and fun, and exhilirating. But once it’s over, there is definitely a bit of a let down, because not only is your vacation over, but you have to leave the Happiest Place On Earth!

So how can you beat the post-Disney blues? By bringing some of the magic of Disney into your own home, of course! There are TONS of Disney DIY projects you can do that are easy, fun, and great ways to remind you of just how special Disney is!

Pin-Shadow-Box For those of you who are into Disney Pin Collecting, here’s a great way to display those pins – here are the step by step instructions on how to create this great Disney Pin display case

MickeyCookiesBake up some Disney fun with a Mickey Cookie cutter and these Chocolate Sugar Cookies – my man made them for me as a surprise, and let me tell you – it doesn’t get more delicious or cute than Mickey shaped cookies!

delicious_disney_coverThere are a few different Disney Cookbooks out there that feature recipes from the various Parks and Restaurants on Disney Property, and it’s a great way to recreate that delicious meal you had on vacation. Personally, I have this Delicious Disney book and love the graphics and recipes

GiantMickeyPumpkinDisney loves the holidays, and so do I! I love them so much I did a recreation of this giant Mickey pumpkin last year for Halloween using one big and two little pumpkins – it was actually really easy, and Mickey’s smiling face might not have been spooky, but it certainly was a great holiday addition

There are plenty of things you can do with your vacation photos too – from collages to decoupage to scrapbooks and albums – picture gifts and crafts are my personal fave, they’re the best way to relive the greatest vacation moments!

T.G.I.F. Pic Of The Week – The Wonderous Witches Of Oz

Last weekend the highly anticipated new Disney movie “Oz The Great and Powerful” opened at theaters nationwide, and no one was more excited to see it than me, aside from being a huge Disney fan, I am also a HUGE Wizard of Oz fan!

The movie itself is a prequel to the classic Wizard of Oz movie, and it explains how the great Wizard came to Oz and saved it’s people from the Wicked Witches. James Franco stars as the Wizard, but the REAL stars of the show are the witches

TGIFOZ Glinda There’s Michelle WIlliams as Glinda the Good Witch

TGIFOZ Mila

Mila Kunis as Theodora who makes quite the transformation into a Wicked Witch

TGIFOZ RachelAnd Rachel Weisz is stunning as Evanora

Their costumes and makeup were beautilful and visually the whole movie was amazing, it was definitely a movie that was made to be enjoyed in 3D

The movie looked great, but unfortunately, the acting and story were not up to par. Personally, I was really disappointed with the movie, and would only give it a 3/10. The first hour was painful, slow plot and horrible acting, and it’s saving grace was that in the second half of the movie, the action picked up and you didn’t notice the bad acting (as much).

Perhaps I was expecting too much? Not sure, but I would love to know your thoughts – did you see it? What did you think?

Mickey And Minnie – A Match Made In Heaven

 UsMinnie

Today my husband and I celebrate SEVEN years together – this is a big deal to us, as we have been through a lot and have done so much together, it really seems like a big milestone, and we are happy and proud to have had each other for the past seven years, and are greatly looking forward to many many more years of laughs, tears, vacations (to Disney!), dates, dogs, and fun! We have only been married for about 3 years, so yes, this means we are those people who still celebrate their dating anniversary even after they have gotten married- and it may seem lame, but we don’t care ha!
mickey-minnie-soda-shop

This got me to thinking about famous couples in love throughout history, and of course Mickey and Minnie came to mind – they have been appearing together since 1928 when Mickey appeared in the cartoon short “Plane Crazy” – where he builds his own aircraft, and brings Minnie along for his first flight. His attempts to kiss her result in her parachuting out of the plane, which distracts him enough to lose control of the plane and cause a crash landing. This was not their famous debut as a couple though – that wouldn’t occur until November 18th, 1928 – the day Steamboat Willie was released to the public with Mickey as the boats crew member and Minnie as it’s lone passenger.

Since then, Minnie has been rescued many times by Mickey, and her strong and fun personality have made her and Mickey one of the most well-known couples ever!

Disney Bonus Book, Black and White - 5. Mickey & Minnie

They may be animated, and they may be mice, but I know can only hope to someday have a love as strong as these two! (And in the meantime, I will settle for just being as cute as Minnie ha!)

Top 5 Adult Hideaways At WDW

Enjoying a relaxing boat ride at WDW!

Enjoying a relaxing boat ride at WDW!

Walt Disney World is typically known as a ‘family’ vacation spot, for families with kids to come and enjoy the rides, characters, and atmosphere. And while this is true, I believe that adults can have an amazing time at WDW too, and that is the main purpose of this blog, is to help people understand and appreciate WDW as an adult vacation spot, as there are plenty of places to go and things to do for those of us without curfews or naptimes!

Here are my top five picks for “Adult Hideaways” at Walt Disney World:

1. Victoria Falls Lounge – This bar is located at Disney’s Animal Kingdom Resort, and it’s upstairs from the popular restaurant Boma (one of my personal favorites!), so while you sip a drink you can look down on the restaurant or outside at the savannah. They offer some unique and delicious adult beverages, and as an added bonus, the Animal Kingdom Lodge is a destination in and of itself! It’s an inredibly beautiful resort- there’s the safari area where you can observe the animals plus learn more about them from the animal experts, the gift shop here offers unique gifts not available at other Resorts, and the dark wood interior of the lobby and lounge is relaxing, elegant, and sophisticated all at the same time

2. Port Orleans Riverside Resort – this ia great, quiet, laid back resort where you can take a romantic stroll or even a horse drawn carriage ride along the Sassagoula River. And if all that walking makes you thirsty, then I highly recommend you stop in to the River Roost Lounge, a full service bar that also serves appetizers and is open until midnight. The big screen tv’s are always tuned to football and other sporting events, but the best entertainment here is definitely Yee-Haw Bob, who performs several nights a week, singing, dancing, and most of all making people laugh. Bob makes a trip to POR worth it, even if you aren’t staying there

3. Downtown Disney – By day, this thriving marketplace caters to those of all ages. But at night, it comes alive with music, drinks, eats, and entertainment for us adults! Check out live music at the House of Blues, bowl a few games over at the new Splittsville Bowling Alley, catch a late movie at the AMC Movie Theater, or fly high above the World with the Characters In Flight hot air balloon experience

4. Illumnations Cruises – You can hire a boat for a nightime private fireworks viewing, and you can even have it catered! This would be a great option to help celebrate just about any special occasion, from birthdays to anniversaries and more. Pricey, but worth it!

5. Boat Rentals – If you don’t want to pay for the private cruise or want to try your hand at being ‘captain’, then I highly recommend renting a boat at WDW, it’s a great way to relax and take in the sights from a totally different point of view. Plus, it’s just you and your boat out there – so it’s quiet and on a sunny day there is nothing better! There are different types of boats available for rental, like jet skis, pedal boats, pontoon boats, and more! Click Here for more information

There are many other places where adults can relax and enjoy some down time, these are just my personal favorites and ones that I have found to be fun for myself and the other adults in my party.

I would love to know what YOUR favorite adult spot is at WDW - a bar, restaurant, pool? Where do you go to unwind and relax at WDW?
