The New Fantasyland – Making The Magic Kingdom More Adult Friendly?

Disney is working hard on their Fantasyland Expansion, adding new attractions and restaurants that will all be open for guests to enjoy by the end of the year.

One of the changes they are making is the creation of a Beauty And The Beast themed area featuring a castle, tavern, and restaurant. The Be Our Guest Restaurant will serve a French themed counter service lunch and sit down dinner, which includes a beer and wine list that is also French inspired (check out the recently released menus here). What is unique about this is that this is the first time that alcohol has EVER been served in the Magic Kingdom.

Many people are upset about this, saying that alcohol was something Walt didn’t want in the Magic Kingdom, and I personally was shocked to hear the news that they would be serving beer and wine and Be Our Guest. But when I thought about it, I realized it really only was a matter of time before this was going to happen, and besides that, what’s a Grench restaurant without wine, its practically a requirement!

It will be interesting to see if this becomes a trend and if other spots in the Magic Kingdom will start to offer ‘adult beverages’ as well. What do you think, should alcohol be a part of Be Our Guest and the Magic Kingdom?
